I used Damit on my leaky red clay pond... and it worked! I also broadcast it by hand on a very calm day (seed-spreader was useless). It takes a few hours for the product to start sinking. Using a hose (or pump) you can gently spray the surface of the dam to help the polymer to start sinking if the wind picks up. Looks like you've done everything right, well done!

If we had run some guidelines across the pond, and Deb pulled the boat from shore while I spread out the back, the spreader could have worked well. We're familiar with Soilfloc and went with Damit instead. Damit will grab the bentonite and pull it down into the bottom, but yes the best thing to do is incorporate tonnage of real coarse bentonite in the bottom when building the pond. We didn't do that.

Wow Jerry. I suggest you Google how to apply Damit. There you will find a video by Damit Shalex Industries. It will show you how wrong you are. The spreader it's just something they sell, but you can see them at one point, using a scoop to through it. Try to be nice when you express yourself. Something like: I hope it works. If it doesn't, try using a spreader. By the way, the spreader won't make a difference in the result.

I know that in another video, you had talked about stocking the pond with fish. Once you get the leak fixed, check with your State's Fish & Wildlife department. I don't know about Florida, but in Oklahoma, the Department of Wildlife will stock your pond with fish for free on the condition that *if* you let anyone fish in the pond, you can't charge them to fish it. If Florida won't do that, then they should at least be able to point you to a few sources for stocking the pond. Also, consider the fact that your pond gets full enough at times for water to back out of the pond through the culverts. That's a potential escape route for fish in your pond. You'll need to put some sort of a screen over the culverts to prevent that.
