I think a better approach may be to apply the waterproofing to the inside of the pot. Whatever you use will be protected from the effects of sun exposure. The sun can wreak havoc on many coatings over time. Just a thought. I may just try this myself. Thanks for the idea.

Another demonstration without protective gear when working with caustic materials. Great finished project though.

Can you give us an update /evaluation of how this product worked out after this time period? Thanks!😊

This did help hold in the water for more water loving plants. But I felt the container deteriorated due to holding more water. The Sealer seemed to "age" the pot more quickly and it became crumbly from holding excess water. Hypertufa is meant to drain!

Hello! Very beautiful your work!!! I will try to make a vase. Can you tell me the recipe please?

I have recipes in these videos but mostly on the website. Here is a link to some of the instruction pages with recipes. www.thehypertufagardener.com/the-procedure/recipes/

Thank you for this! This sounds be great for me decor only fountains and ornamental plants.! Woukd these coatings leach anything harmful into the water /soil for food plants or birds baths?
@KimsGardensandHome3 ай бұрын
There will be alkaline leaching from the vessel at first. That needs to age out, but if using for a bird bath or any kind of food plant, I would put a barrier inside such as waterproofing.

How did you attach the feet? It's beautiful. I just made my first one and is curing (?) ....
@KimsGardensandHome4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. I don't have the feet attached. They are just like they are in the video, a separate little foot for it so that I can move it whereever I want. I guess they could be attached with some masonry cement but I have never "glued" them on. Sometimes I use those tiny planters for a tiny plant. Of course, I have others too, but if I am short a planter, I just take the trough off its feet!

I think you're missing the point with hypertufa. It's meant to be porous so that it can breathe.
@KimsGardensandHome2 жыл бұрын
Just re-read the title of the video. I am always up to trying something new. Yes, they are porous, hence sealing one 'to plant more water-needy plants.' I hope that explains my point in this video.
