I really appreciate your willingness to give a fair comparison between your product and a competing product. I ordered the i Califas recently and also noticed how the inner chamber on the cover isn't able to be cleaned. I ran the machine with an empty pod and when I went to clean it, there was a tiny bit of coffee grounds in the pod, so I'm fairly certain coffee does get stuck in there. (Also I've only been using them for 3 days.) I suppose I could just keep running water through the pods when I want to clean them thoroughly, but it's a bit concerning how I can never really know for sure if it's clean in there. It was cool to see how much more coffee the SealPod could hold than the i Califas. You didn't do a taste test but do you remember if the espresso was stronger with the SealPod? I imagine it probably was. Personally I don't need my coffee very strong but I imagine the SealPod would probably be better for people who want a strong espresso. Plus the fresh covers are genius! I think personally the i Cafilas will be good enough for my usage but it's good to know that there are options out there that could give me an even better shot of espresso if I want one or want to recommend one. Thanks for the video!

You are welcome! and thanks for the comment! Its a good idea to run the icafilas empty capsule with hot water to help clean the inner chamber on the cover, or maybe emerge the cover in hot water for a few minutes. The taste of the espresso is stronger using Sealpod, because it uses the sticker lids which allows pressure to build inside before the coffee comes out and the amount of coffee filled inside the capsule is a bit more, but the icafilas is not bad as well. I am glad you like the idea of our Fresh Cover! One of the reason we invented it was because we still want to enjoy the convenience our capsule machine, having capsules on stand-by ready for any caffeine emergency! haha... It is specially helpful for a mom of 3 like me, my kids help me fill the capsules in advance (they insist!) and I can pop a capsule in anytime, and I feel a special blessing knowing that my cup of coffee was filled with love ^_^

Are these aluminium stickers for sealpod one's suitable for normal nespresso capsules?
@sealpodreusablecapsule92343 жыл бұрын
Yes the Sticker lids are compatible with Nespresso capsules, but since the used capsules already have 3 punched holes, and next time you reuse it will punch another 3 holes somewhere else, and when the capsule has too many holes, the ground coffee might leak out... Maybe you can reuse the nespresso disposable capsules once or twice...

Are sealpods or the icafilas compatible with nespresso essenza mini?
@sealpodreusablecapsule92343 жыл бұрын
I just checked Icafilas Amazon website and it mentioned it is not compatible with Essenza mini. For Sealpod, its a bit complicated, we tested and it works well for the machines sold in Asia, Europe and US, but some customers from South American mentioned Sealpod cannot fit their machine. So we think its due to the machine manufacturing tolerance difference.

For your opinion 4-5grams is a good amount of coffee taste?
@sealpodreusablecapsule51243 жыл бұрын
Hello, 4.5 to 5 grams(around one and half scoop) brights the best result. Make sure you use the right grinding level (Fine, the level for MOKA Pot) and fresh coffee.
@John-nr6gg3 жыл бұрын
You raise a very good point. The Nespresso capsules contain up to 7 grams of coffee. The Sealpod and Cafilas capsules contain 4 to 4.5 grams, so passing the same amount of water through each, will result in a coffee weaker than Nespresso. There are 2 solutions: (1) Use 2 capsules, for a single shot of coffee, using the Ristretto button (which will pass less water through each capsule.) That will give you a result similar to, even a little stronger than, a single Nespresso capsule. (2) Alternatively, reprogram your machine to pump less water. (Instructions are in your machine manual). This way, you can retain the original function of the two or three buttons of your machine (though of course, you will still need to use double the number of capsules.) If you use a 2-button machine, such as the Pixie, that pumps only an Espresso or a Lungo shot, you can still achieve a Ristretto pump, by holding both buttons down. (Instructions for that are also in your manual). I have both Cafilas and Sealpod reusable capsules, as well as plastic resusable capsules. They all work well, providing double the number of capsules are used, to get that strong taste. The plastic pods hold slightly less coffee than the Sealpod or Cafilas, but in practice, there is little difference in strength of final result. Cleaning and on-going expense of consumables is the biggest difference between the three sorts of capsules. The Sealpod is the easiest to clean, but does require on-going purchase of aluminium stickers and, very seldom, replacement of the external O-rings. The Cafilas does not use aluminium lids, but does use an O-ring for its lid and another external one, and those will also need replacing in due course. The Cafilas has that question about its enclosed lid filter. Mine haven't caused a problem yet, but time will tell. The plastic capsules are cheapest to buy, but are awkward to clean, and they don't appear to have any replacements available for their O-rings. Cleaning advice: ASAP, do the cleaning, even before you drink the coffee. The shiny stainless steel surface cleans like a charm, no time at all, when the capsules are still wet and hot. My pick? Sealpod first, Cafilas a very close 2nd (though time will tell), plastic third. And to the presenter, nice work with your video. It was a pleasure to watch it!

what's the recommended coffee grind size for the i cafilas ?
@farikkhan3 жыл бұрын
REUSABLE PODS When it comes to coffee capsules, hot water is basically forced through your grounds: too fine, and it won’t get through, too coarse, and it will gush through. Essentially, a fine grind works best for reusable pods - this means that the water has to work a little harder to get through that ground coffee, creating strong, fuller bodied espresso and a beautiful extraction. Whereas a coarser grind tends to produce gentler flavours and a lighter colour crema. Wross - when buying pre-ground coffee, it’s usually a very fine grind size (unless otherwise stated). However for the majority of our reusable pods, we recommend using a medium-fine grind for optimal results. In most cases, ensure your capsule is tamped firmly, and filled to the top. www.cremajoe.com.au/blogs/news/the-lowdown-on-grind-size

I've tried that with normal foil. Doesn't work. Foil does not get perforated. I was piercing it with a knife first, but aluminium capsules collapse. You also get too many holes in the base. I have just purchased Sealpod and I love them. Lots of Crema and no problem with flow. I had a lot of trouble trying to use foil with disposable capsules.

The issue with aluminum contacting any food/drinks, especially acidic as specialty coffee may be, is that you will ingest "some" portion of it inevitably. 20mg of aluminium is a max daily dosage. From that point, a fully stainless steel pod is better unless it impacts the taste and/or extraction (e.g. sour or weak) or you aren't ready to sacrifice a bit of crema. Crema is not a big deal if you make milk-coffee drinks, especially using milk frother. And if you're crazy geeky about extraction and can taste specialty coffee taste descriptors, then you simply don't use pods at all. 😉 Either you'd go for a porta filter espresso machine or just good ol' filter coffee (V60, chemex, aeropress, jesve, french press, etc).
