Being a child of the 1970's , this song paints a picture of the simple times in a typical suburban neighborhood. Makes me long for those summer evening when screen doors were common and newspapers were on the sidewalk

Amen--this song takes me right back to the early '70s. I know that it's a cliche for the old-timers (me) to say 'things were better back in the day', but in this case I think they really were. While I'm saddened by much that I see now, I feel profoundly blessed to have been young in the '70s and '80s.

Yes and No.....women not accepted in the workplace. strictly pigeonholed as housewives...plus...racial and sexual prejudices. But yes, the tone overall was much simpler for when I was growing up in my middle-class white neighborhood. Looked forward to trick-or-treating without having to search for needles in candy bars. And tricks were as harmless as toilet-papering the neighbor's tree.

AS usual the British "summer" was nothing worth knowing about BUT...we were "treated" every other day by news reports of how Canadians were "SUFFERING", "melting", "dying" and "praying for the heat to end". As suspected, and as the comments on here CONFIRM our Beaver building/moose on the loose cousins were LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT...and with toons like this providing the soundtrack, why would they not???.

I planted a jasmine plant in my yard in honor of this song. Lo and behold - it bloomed for the first time yesterday - just in time for a send-off to July. I was 13 when this song came out, listening to it on my transistor, laying in the grass on the front lawn. We were lucky to grow up in 60's and 70's, when music was real.

RIP Jim Seals. Your and Dash Crofts music will always live in our hearts. You were a genius lyricist and gave us so many wonderful songs. I still have most of your songs on my pc. Like a Summer Breeze, you made us all feel fine when your music came blowing gently through our minds. The first time I heard about the Baha'i Faith with its wonderful message of unity which the world needs more now than ever was in your music. You were a great musician and left an inspiring legacy. You will never "pass this way again" but your legacy endures. "Summer Breeze" - Seals & Crofts (Lyrics) See the curtains hangin' in the window In the evening on a Friday night A little light-a-shinin' through the window Lets me know everything's all right Summer breeze makes me feel fine Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind Summer breeze makes me feel fine Blowin' though the jasmine in my mind See the paper layin' on the sidewalk A little music from the house next door So I walk on up to the doorstep Through the screen and across the floor Summer breeze makes me feel fine Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind Summer breeze makes me feel fine Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind Sweet days of summer The jasmine's in bloom July is dressed up and playing her tune And I come home from a hard day's work And you're waitin' there, not a care in the world See the smile awaitin' in the kitchen Food's cookin' and the plates for two Feel the arms that reach out to hold me In the evening when the day is through Summer breeze makes me feel fine Blowing through the jasmine in my mind Summer breeze makes me feel fine Blowing through the jasmine in my mind

Back in 1979 I was 15 and Dash Crofts had recently moved to Northridge where I grew up. My friend and I were trying to earn money for trip to Arizona by going door to door asking people if we could wash their cars for about $2. Crofts let us wash what must have been a custom painted Jaguar, but unfortunately and entirely by accident, the Joy dish soap we used ruined his high gloss paint job, which we didn't notice until he came out. He was horrified. He kept saying, "Oh wow, this looks really bad" as he walked around the car. But he was such a nice, gentle guy, he didn't even raise his voice or demand to talk to our parents. In fact, he paid us anyway. I feel really bad about that to this day, 41 years later. Hope he's doing well. The music will live forever.

I remember hearing this sitting in a car while mom and dad went into a shop to get something and watching the rain fall outside the window in a beach community of my old hometown when I was little. There was a melancholy about it that suited the scene. I was fascinated with the combination of sounds. It sounded like nothing else. Hearing toy piano and sax blend into piano and synthesisers was crazy. Lovely song and such a nice production and performance.

Sweet, I remember in the early seventies driving through the deserted desert in the summer with the windows open wide and this song playing on the radio. I could feel and see a house with a big tree, a woman in the kitchen after a days hard work. And the expressions made in the song of those feelings in day to day relations. Nicely done. I Hope Seals rest in peace.

Great harmonies. I am super bummed about this. Saw England Dan and John Ford Coley in concert too. England Dan was Jimmy's brother and later became a country star. He passed several years ago. Jimmy Seals was one of the best entertainers I ever saw in concert. I think the song Summer Breeze is pure genius.
