I have a 1973 bronco I've had for many years and it's original color is that turquoise. I did a frame off on it and re painted a different color. I'm about 80% finished with it. Enjoy your videos. Great work.

I used to work as a mechanic at a large airline, all the panels on the airplanes are sealed similar to how you did your seams, we used isopropyl alcohol instead, but the result is the same. Nice work, have enjoyed watching your progress!

Thanks John... I will give that a shot next time. I might not be as harsh as the lacquer thinner.
@stevefreriks2247

Isopropyl alcohol is less toxic for sure. Just don’t drink it 😜

Chatted last night with my cousin, who teaches auto body at a big tech school here. He suggested acetone, as it leaves less residue than mineral spirits, which could cause adhesion issues if not cleaned thoroughly. Isopropyl is clean too, but get the 99%. In Canada, we keep the 99% behind the pharmacy counter as people buy it to cook down cannabis plants to make THC oil.

Steve, I wouldn't use mineral spirits because of the oily residue. Lacquer thinner like I used does not leave that residue. Thanks man.

Did this before myself on a couple of firewall jobs. I used a wider artist style paint brush with thinner and a heat gun to smooth out the edges.

@@JasonJonieBuilds I think yours looks better but I was trying to achieve a slightly less wide factory look and I felt like I succeeded.

That's going to look fantastic! My '72 was Caribbean Turquoise - my favorite color. I mixed my own color for the '68 and came up with that turquoise-ish baby blue. And, man-oh-man, your attention to detail - you can tell I work for the OEM because my seam sealer looks like it does when it leaves the factory - like it was laid down by a blind drunk guy. Now I have to do mine over!! lol :)

Thanks Rob! I saw where you had painted the firewall a while back. Your color looks great too. It is a shame to cover up all the seam sealer work I did with liner but it is how I want it to look.

Me-ti-cu-lous! I love it. I’ve done a similar technique of caulking for home improvement projects. It makes sense to start with the seams one doesn’t see to get the technique down pat, like under the floor mats. I’ll do the same if/when I ever get to mine.

The '78 we purchased next year will be our next I believe. However, I have a couple projects to do on my brothers '79 first. We are going to install a Coyote in his Bronco.

That color will look amazing. Coming down to the wire….you going to make it for Super Celebration? Over the years would you care to guess how many pounds of primer you have wore when you are blocking…..its got to be in the tons !!! I think we are bringing a whole tribe this year. We won’t be down till that Thursday night. Looking forward to next week…..color always fires you up. as much as I love my bronco….I honestly got sick of seeing gray primer. Great video….Norm’s is looking really sharp too.

loved the "drum roll" insert from christmas vacation. my all time fav christmas movie. where did you purchase your paint from btw? i noticed the can had "tint only" written on it. i assume you use a specific paint match mix to tint with and you don't just mix in some single stage.
@JasonJonieBuilds
@JasonJonieBuilds 2 жыл бұрын
We use Ken's Pro Coulors locally. He is very helpful. The tint is just that no gloss or anything else. The kit has to be the tintable version.

Where can I get a Tshirt that you have on?
@JasonJonieBuilds
@JasonJonieBuilds 2 жыл бұрын
It was a gift from a buddy of mine. There are a lot of them on line but I think he ordered it from the guy who actually designed the shirt. Sorry I don't have a better answer for ya.
