I’ll say this: Best Plot - Descendants 1 Best soundtrack - Descendants 2 Wasn’t needed - Descendants 3 Overall, the second one is my favorite Descendants caters more to younger audiences where as HSM can be for all ages with its dialogue and acting. I prefer HSM over Descendants.

As a person who was only recently gotten into the clone high series, ever after high is what clone high should have been. A story about the teenaged descendants of icons that meditates upon the idea of nature vs nurture. Story the teachers people that just because the world says what you will do with your life, that doesn't necessarily mean you have to do it. You can be whatever you wish to be. The soap operatic Dawson's Creek style love-triangle ruined clone high for me. But then, that's my opinion.

Fun fact: I cannot tell you where this is set BUT I can tell you where it was filmed: the castle is about 5 minutes down the road from where I live and it’s a local university here in Canada! They also filmed Arrow, Smallville, and some of the xmen movies (and Deadpool) here. It was really cool getting to watch them film the movies here then seeing them get so popular.

My biggest grip with this movie (other than ending Ever After) was that the villain kids don’t actually do anything evil? Especially in the first half?? They have this big moment where they are like “we are done being good” but like nothing about their behavior changes?? And all the “chaos” they do cause is forgiven or forgotten by the end so it doesn’t even make sense.

The thing about the 3rd one that feels the weirdest is that Ben and Mal are engaged while Evie and Doug didn't even have their first kiss yet and that's so weird because they've been coupled up the same amount of time. Also, I get why she would give the kids from the isle a chance as well as making the situation on the isle better as a whole, but why would all the villains be forgiven, some of them for murder or attempted murder, kidnapping etc.? Also also, to answer your question: Auredon is the united kingdom of all places of all the Disney movies (completly ignoring time differences, whether they were set in the real world or a fairy tale land etc.) and they are specifically in the part where Beauty and the Beast took place (even if this makes no sense, cause the beast's castle was not near the ocean). Since most of the kids are royalty, I supposed that the royal status' of the original movies remained and the Beast became sort of an emporer over all of them

Another continuity error I have just noticed is in the second movie the dog is able to talk on the Isles but in the third movie and all the movies they say that magic doesn’t work there. In the third one Mal gets cursed and it breaks when she goes to the Isles but somehow the magic of the dog talking still works there. I guess it all depends on how convenient it is for the plot

One continuity error between the books and movies, Mal apparently dated Harry before Ben, so Evie's comment is wrong. However, they were both in the works at the same time, so someone at Disney should be held responsible for the discontinuity.

Yes! Another thing that always bothered me was that Maleficent gives Mal the spell book because "it doesn't work here...but it will in Auradon." But then in Descendants 2 Uma uses it to escape and spell Ben. And if magic doesn't work there, why does Uma want Fairy Godmother's wand?? It wouldn't work anyway!

In this scene 27:50 from the 3rd movie they specifically say “EVIL magic doesn’t work here”. So technically the dog being able to talk on the island while the old age spell being reversed is not a continuity error, anymore. Though, that’s most likely a retcon to fix the error they caused in the second movie.

The thing about Descendants is that it is a blatant knock-off of Mattel’s show Ever After High, which was also about the children of famous fairytale characters and involved conflict between villain children and and royal children You have to know a fair bit of Mattel history to fully understand everything, but at the time Ever After High was released, Disney got upset because Mattel was resigning from making Disney Princess dolls in order to focus on this new show and to sever ties with Disney interpretations of famous fairytales. While Descendants had a slightly different focus, Ever After High was created first and there are many similarities between the two (in terms of dialogue, character design, character choices, storylines, etc), showing how Disney wanted to upstage EAH. It was a shame, because Ever After High was a great show, but unfortunately it was cancelled due to the release of Descendants (2, I think, but I could be wrong) at a very bad time and the show/doll line’s budget got smaller and smaller due to Disney’s competition, effectively ruining the show. This is also the reason that Mattel doesn’t make Disney Princess dolls anymore (the job has been passed to Hasbro). Anyways, I mean no offense to Descendants fans at all, just trying to provide my thoughts on the matter because Ever After High was a great show and I’m still salty it was cancelled lol.

If people were at the bleachers talking, it was usually just because they were waiting on a bell (they didn't even sit on the bleachers, they would just stand in it's vicinity instead). 1st of all: loved the video! 2nd: honestly, I feel Audrey had every right to be mad. Not only did her boyfriend bring back the child of the person who nearly KILLED her mom ( that's the equivalent to your partner bringing your mother/fathers almost killers kid to your school, I'd be pissed too!) when he could've brought BACK ANY KIDS! Then, he spent time with Mal and kinda brushed Audrey off till he CONFESSED HIS LOVE TO MAL (while under a potion though no one knew so to Audrey it looked like he just publically broke up with her. Just to be clear, I'm not blame BEN). We don't know how long him and Audrey were together for but from the beginning, it sounded like it was awhile.

Not to mention Audrey's grandmother was being so mean to her about the fact that she "couldn't keep a man" after all the emotional turmoil she already dealt with by being publicly broken up with. I don't like Audrey that much tbh (and I think Mal has WAY better chemistry with Ben), but I totally get why she turned villainous in the third movie. Ben and Mal both owed her a massive apology from the start, but they didn't give it to her until after she had already turned evil and then back to good again. Also, Queen of Mean totally slaps and justifies the decision to make Audrey a villain just for the song alone tbh.

As an American, here's my thoughts on the bleachers: 1. One time at a football game my friend dropped her phone and we had to go under the bleachers to get it. Nobody else was under there, so clearly it's not like a place people go while they're at the game. 2. I actually can understand the appeal and I'm surprised people don't sit under there. It's like a fun little hiding spot. 3. In most of the media I see people go meet under the bleachers to hook up (or just to talk if it's a Disney movie) in the middle of the school day while nobody else is there. I have no idea if people really do this. I doubt it bc if you're already sneaking out to go to the football field you might as well just leave. Or sit in your car.

It's even more funny when you know the original fairytales and some of their other versions (Since many fairytales are based on folktales, there are many slightly different versions of them in different countries. For example, Beauty and the Beast is French, but there is a German version with a bird instead of roses and the beast is a lion. A Norwegian version, where the beast is a bear and his stepmother cursed him, because he didn't want to marry a Troll woman) and watch Descendents after it.

I love the callback to their parents: Friendly reminder, looks like they lost my invention (Mal Line in the first song, Maleficent wasn't invented to Aurora's christening) that's brilliant to me. And the fact that Mal spells Ben because she wants to be loved, didn't Malificent just want a bit of love and acceptance like Mal does and Oma spells Ben makes so much sense because Vanessa (Ursula's Allis) did that with prince Eric, but obviously the main character Ariel wins and Mal the main character here wins. I think Mal bullying Jane is also great because she's bad in the first film. Jane should have become better friends with them in the 2nd movie.

One main thing I loved in the first one was evie’s relationship with her mom. While it was complicated, the evil queen really loved her daughter. Her cheering for Evie’s shoutout was one of my favorite parts. Things I would have changed or expanded on: Took out dude talking. Set up Audrey’s arc from the beginning. Show little interactions/dialogue between her and her grandmother throughout each film that will lead to something bigger. Than I would make her an antihero. She should have played a bugger role in the third film. Add more to Uma’s character. Have more of Jay and Gil. Show more of Evie and Doug’s relationship. Give Jane more development. I kind of shipped Uma with two characters. Either Harry or Ben. Audrey can have that fight with light and dark with Harry. Movie 4 anyone? So many things so little time.

@@lilysnape6520 the literal question that is asked many times with hades in mythology, “is hades a villain or is he just doing his job?” I liked hades more in the “go the distance” novel because it stayed true to the disney hades and kept some of his personality and story from mythology. And why oh why do you mess with hades and persephone? That is one of the most beautiful yet tragic stories of all time.

I love villains with good background storues but that doesn't mean there should be somehow this twist of "once they were good" like with cruella for example. Based on the thought of the amount of fur used in fashion she isn't even really bad. Yeah, stealing dogs isn't good at all but that doesn't make her a big villain. Even the Maleficirnt thing wasto much for me. Gicing her this tragic love story background makes her more evil then "She wasn't invited by the modt powerful men just bwcause she is the 13th fairy and as a fairy she saw it as her right to curse a kid to live till the age of marriage and having kids. So it wasn't "I kill a baby" it was "I will kill someone who at that age will be considered worthless until ahe has kids. So I end the family line"

She was a sociopath and I liked how she stayed loyal to those who helped her and loved her. She only had a few people by her side. While it was subtle, I liked how they touched on the “who tells your story”. People make up rumors about her and she goes along with it. I think this is the setup for the sequel and we are going to see the Cruella we are familiar with. What makes her snap?

ahh, part of my teenage years. I liked the first one, as it had a decent plot. the second one was okay, but the music was really good! but for the third one honestly, by the time it came out, I was 19 and it was no longer catering to my age. The biggest wasted potential to me was word building. Instead of focusing on one castle that's a school, they should've shown us different kingdoms in every Disney movie or more of Auroden. I know the budget isn't enough but it would've been nice. Also if Disney Hades exists then doesn't it mean Disney Zeus exists also? Which would make more sense for Hercules to rule over the kingdom than Ben since it seems they're the most powerful family. Also shouldn't some royal families have some grudges against the children of their villains or make them the ones who don't want any of the Lost Isle children coming to Auroden. You can't be telling me Ben's Family is the only family governing this school. Also I would've liked it if they focus more on Ben being a king since it has many responsibilities and after Descendants 1, the public should been negative about Mal's and his relationship or should create tension between his family and Auroa (Sleeping Beauty) family. Maybe Ben's and his ex girlfriend were arranged to be together. It would've been interesting to see that in Descendants. One last thing, how's Fairy Godmother's barrier stronger than Hades? Actually, how did he get there? If it was Zeus's barrier then it'd make more sense.

Movie 1 lives up to the hype. Movie 2 has the best music. Movie three went dark but they combined too many storylines in one film. They could have taken a couple of the songs and narrowed their focus down. Also, the villains like Uma and Harry can still be grey without them switching to one side all together. I felt they just did a 180 with them too quickly. I like what they did with Hades’s character. I felt bad for him because he did not deserve the punishment he got. His point at the end was valid.

okay no, the thing with Ben was explained. He didnt inherit his dad's ability to turn into a beast, Audrey curse him into a beast. Then Jane sprayed the enchanted Lake water on him, but it wasn't enough so it only washed away half the spell which is why he still had the beard and fangs. then at the end, everything goes back to normal so he loses the rest of his hair and fangs

Funny thing actually: there are books that play in between the movies. It's been a while since I read them but I remember there being a school at auradon, mal and ben dreaming of each other(before they knew each other, that was actually the reason why Ben said they have to come to Auradon). Oh also Evie was homeschooled until like a few months before they came to auradon, Mal and Jay were friends a long time before all that and Evie and Carlos just kinda became a part of it. They also go to neverland and other kingdoms in the books. Yeah a lot of things git explained in the books, maybe you can make a video about it, I know I'm half a year late but maybe. Edit: Mulans daughter(I think she was called loonie) did an exchange year or something like that I think.

It's called Ever After High, its speculated that Descendants was one of the reasons why it got canceled, its all on youtube and Netflix, regular show episodes and special movies, and it's really good for a kid show about fairytale children going to basically high school.

I think Descendants is pretty fun. I think the first Descendants had the best story, the 2nd one had the best songs, the third one was kinda boring it had some fun song and I liked Audrey as the villain she was funny as an evil person and interesting. They didn’t use her as much as they could have to cause more conflict. The story was very slow and most the conflicts got solved so quickly. They had some interesting ideas and concepts that could have been cool but they didn’t execute well. When our main characters had to works with their rivals they could have made it more interesting than it was. I think k the 3rd one didn’t live up to the hype that Disney had it seem. The dude who played hades was very hyped up but he was hardly in the movie at all. With the 2nd one the story was still pretty good it was just a bit slow at times but it was mostly good. The first one was a pretty good story and ofc course it was a bit predictable but still fun and the songs were good. The choreography was good in all three of them. The only choreography I don’t love is the ones in the 3rd movie when their fighting the armor some of the dance moves they do is stuff that would be used in a more sexy musical and with an older sexy character and it looks kinda like a “sexy” dance moves to an extent and it’s weird seeing that in a kids movie

I watched all the descendants movies as they came out I was around 12 when the first one released and at the time it was great for a Disney movie. I personally prefer 2&3 and most of us were waiting for a 4th but due to Cameron’s passing(Carlos) it became quite obvious to most that the story wouldn’t continue. We were all hoping for the 4th to explore the main characters more especially considering Mal is part god They did come out with a 22mins short called descendants the royal wedding which is about mal&bens wedding, hades returns, it had a little moment for Cameron at the end mal says something along the lines of “it’s our happy ending for us,but another story has just begun for someone else” this then pans to some white roses painted red and then a rabbit hole We have had no information about that

The major problems with the movies 1)The modern-day settings 2) A lot of children's died in their movies 3) Both the parents in their children would have been in different eras or in Mulan"s case dynasty. They wouldn't be in the 21st century expect for maybe Carlos and Cruella. And if you want to understand why Ben decided to give the villain kids a chance, how Mal and her friends became friends, what makes Mal feel pressured to be the perfect girlfriend, what they did to discover more villain wanted a chance to be good, Mal and Uma's complicated past, and hints to Mal's father and that he cares despite who he is. The books are 1) The Isle of the Lost, 2)Return to the Isle of the Lost 3) Rise of the Isle The lost 4) Escape from the Isle of the Lost they answer lot of your questions. Audrey was not in the last movie because of contract issues with the actress. But she does have more roles in the books. All the movies show that even those who are supposed to good can be bad. And those raised to be bad can be good. Cameron Boyce died after they finished filming otherwise there would have had a fourth. Because an alternate ending had them saying you didn't think this was the end of the story did you? Though there is a royal wedding called a descendant royal wedding 23min short you may like. But there maybe something about Alice in wonderland in the future.

I was surprised they made Hades Mal's dad, because I just remember years ago way before Descendants there was just this short burst of Malificent x Hades ship fan art, like how they'd be a power couple and what their kids would be like. Like, the versions from their original respective movies. I have no clue where that ship came from, but it stuck around for a hot minute before I stopped seeing it.
