ADHD and Autism is a very common overlap of diagnosis (I have both myself!), and it helped me a lot when I found out I had Autism as well! So I would definitely suggest getting it checked when you feel like it 😊
@rosebrown63819 ай бұрын
Yeah, same. My autism diagnosis was as an adult, but my ADHD and dyslexia diagnosis was as a very young kid. There is so much overlap, it can be hard to get everything diagnosed properly. And my autism effects me more socially (I miss a lot of cues on stuff) but it still is part of my brain and I need to know how to handle that as well.

Seconding this 100%!

100% agree. Honestly they are so common to have together that if you get diagnosed with one you should probably at least look into the other one automatically. Like just read some stuff and see if you think its worth being assessed. I was diagnosed with ASD about 2 years ago and then with ADHD last year and I'm so happy I looked into ADHD some more after my autism diagnosis cause if I hadn't I wouldn't know myself as well as I do now

Sean saying he might be autistic made me almost cry cause I've been questioning if I am for like 4 years now, and I've been watching his videos for close to 10. We are all magnetically connected without knowing. So many of my favorite creators have been realizing lately, that they might be on the spectrum or have adhd. Being neurodiverget can be really isolating, but the fact that the people i find comfort in are also like me in so many ways says a lot.
@NxrmitaH9 ай бұрын

@invaderaries73648 ай бұрын
If he ever decides to get evaluated to see whether or not he's on the spectrum, it's probably going to be an absolute nightmare for him to find someone who does autism evaluations for adults. I was originally diagnosed in 2010 and my mom and I have spent the last two years trying to find someone like that for me to be reevaluated (as part of us fighting the government to get my social security back and to see where I am on the spectrum since I got worse after the year 2017, which is when I graduated high school, and even worse due to covid) because everyone we got referred to did evaluations for children instead of adults Edit: Forgot to add when I was originally diagnosed and that my mom and I are trying to get me reevaluated. I need help finding my brain sometimes 😅

19:00 Listening to this while taking astronomy courses is a trip! On the first day of class, my prof actually posed that question, “why don’t we just shoot nuclear waste into space?” And then he played a montage of various rockets exploding or crashing back to earth; “humanity doesn’t have a great track record with accurately launching things into space”

I feel you Sean. My therapist thinks I am autistic and we talked about it and I did some research about getting a diagnosis. And I came to the conclusion that having a diagnosis wouldn't help me right now. It's complicated to get an appointment and I have to wait some months and I wouldn't have any benefits from it (except knowing). Also as german a 23yo person, I am not at all satisfied with my life and neither are my friends.

Happy Birthleakday Jack! Also as someone who has A Vitamin D deficiency, I think it’s supposed to make you feel more energized but like Jack said, I haven’t noticed a difference much whenever I do take supplements.
@mlafou9 ай бұрын
I'm on Vit D as where I live I don't get a lot of sunlight as we should. Check b12 levels and iron levels...mine were both very low, did the iron infusions and b12 shots, and I finally felt like I had energy. Just a suggestion.
@469ka379 ай бұрын
It's probably because supplements aren't as effective as getting Vitamin D "naturally", by which I mean your body doesn't absorb it well. As a person with a reoccurring iron deficiency one of the main things I have to do is take vitamin C with it so it actually absorbs. Idk what that would be for Vitamin D as that's something you usually get from the sun, so I don't know what would help it absorb better than it currently is.
@GothicMaximalist9 ай бұрын
So the problem with vitamins and minerals, is peoples expectations of them. There are plenty of them that you won't necessarily FEEL the difference, but your body does, your body still benefits from those vitamins and minerals. They are all just one piece of the larger puzzle of overall health and well being.

33:39 Here’s the thing: Getting tested for ASD would only be helpful if you can get yourself accommodations at a workplace. Otherwise, the stigma is too great, Sean. Fr, I wouldn’t get immediately tested ‘cause that stigma from the diagnosis could hurt more than help.

Wouldn't a diagnosis of a popular KZbinr be a great resource in destigmatising ASD? (I'm not trying to be rude - just a thought -I have autism myself and am annoyed at how under-represented we are)
@emilyduke42559 ай бұрын
As an autistic person who is unemployed. I have to disagree. Getting a diagnosis can be helpful for many things beside workplace accommodations. Being diagnosed was life changing for me. It changed the way I viewed myself and the people around me, it allowed me to connect with others like me, it helped me find coping mechanisms and new ways of doing things, it changed the way I engaged with therapy. There's more too but that's just what immediately came to mind. That doesn't mean that formal diagnosis is right for everybody and many people are okay with self-identifying and that's awesome. But everyone just needs to consider what's right for them and weigh ALL the benefits against ALL the risks.
@VegaNorth8 ай бұрын
@@Notajellyfish I totally get it! If Sean did, it’d be a great and wholesome way for folks to accept ASD more… it’s just that even after all this time, I highly doubt professional spheres and the larger populace would accept a KZbinr even one as big as JackSepticEye. 😓 There ought to be a multi-pronged coalition to get rid of the stigma.

We met May 1st at a mutual friend’s wedding that we both almost ended up not going too, 4 months later on August 15th we started dating, and then 3 months after that on November 15th I moved from Washington to Ohio which was also my first time on a plane. It’s still the best decision ever made I just find it ironic that after I turned 19 I uprooted my whole life to go live with a man I had basically just met 😂.
