This whole album is brilliant, melancholy, surreal, beautiful. Sean, regardless of what anyone says, you have really come into your own and found your own voice. I haven't bought a compact disc in years, but had to buy this one just because I felt I needed a tactile, material copy of an album this brilliantly composed; downloading these songs as mere files just wouldn't seem right. I agree that it is a very touching song. I believe a lot of the criticisms against him, in some manner, have a lot to do with the public's perception of mainly his father and also his mother. There were many who didn't think fondly of his mother and I suppose they see both her and his father in Sean. It is hard to carve out a perspective that is clear from those biases. Nevertheless I feel that this comment focused on the sincerity or raw quality of the track. I feel like he is an ok singer.. but once he finds himself, he could be something far greater. He is very bothered by the constant comparisons made between him and his late father.

Sean’s first album wasn’t very well received because he didn’t sound like his father, but put out a recording of very bossa nova themed music that showed off his guitar skills. I think this melody and probing lyrics are quite beautiful. I think he’s a very talented guy, and far from cashing in on his parents fame, I believe it’s making it hard for him be heard without anticipation, or prejudice.

His father was murdered when he was very young, he's been caught in the middle with the whole family drama between his step brother and step mother, he's been through the other band members dramas, and has lived the childhood and teenagehood that not many ordinary kids and teens experience. So he really expresses that through his art. Which is very beautiful.
