This is the first time I gave listening to Sean's music a chance. I have to say this song is very GOOD. It really is a DISGRACE that his music doesn't get more play on American air. I'm very IMPRESSED. I know he doesn't like to be compared to his dad's music, but in saying his dad would be PROUD of this composition is major compliment to ANY musician. Go SEAN.
@patrickshehane54965 жыл бұрын
I'm a composer and musician, as well as a Beatles historian, and I agree with you. This is good, thoughtful music John would be proud out of his mind over. He'd have flipped over his sons work

I was waiting for the light to change on the corner of 23rd and 7th Ave, some years ago,looking for some Chinese Restaurant that my girlfriend swore was as good as,if not better than Wo Hop on Mott St. I turn to my right and who's standing next to me,all unassuming? Sean Lennon. I say "Hi Sean" he says "hello", I then say,"This is Tiffany" like we're old friends,he greets her as well. He's a warm spirit,but he's also a kind of quiet pensive soul,and you can kind of feel his sadness. I chatted him up,just a bit more,and wished him well. I wish I would have invited him to join us. He actually seemed like he would have rolled with it. And not because of his celeb status mind you,there is something truly unique and special about that brother as a human being. P.S. Thanks for the word pensive Tiff! LOL

I love this story of yours. Although, in a very odd way. It's very haunting and it makes me feel so much sadness. But at the same time I also feel a bit happy for you that you had the rare opportunity to meet Sean Lennon. I'm glad that you shared this experience with everybody here. You've written it beautifully. Even though your words were few, what you DID write, seemed to tell a whole, complete story. If you aren't already a writer, I am most certain that you would make an excellent one.

You are really lucky; I wish I had a chance to meet Sean and Julian, too. They are both very unique and talented. I love the word "pensive", I'm going to use it more often... I find interesting what you wrote about his sadness because that's my impression, too. Whenever I listen to his songs and interviews, I feel some very subtle, deep-seated, ingrained sadness despite his good sense of humour and good spirit. I feel the same listening to Julian. After the family tragedy they both went through losing their father it's not a surprise at all. I guess a trauma like that can hardly ever be resolved. Their example, their songs and their spirit help me a lot because I went through similar tough times as a child. I think these two guys don't even guess how much it means that they are here around us on this planet...

He's too understated, should have been born a decade back, probably people would have appreciated him more. There are so many who compare him to his father and others who sympathise with him for it, Sean has adapted John Lennon's attitude but the story of the songs are very different. The Strokes are a band wich targets it's audiences with relatable intellectual capacity however the Beatles always indicated a certain level of superiority in their interviews/music videos and Sean lies right in between. This song is a masterpiece.

Yoko didn't steal John, or break up the Beatles. She didn't make it any better. John was lost, and he found Yoko. In many ways, she saved him. She probably had to use an incantation or something like that to keep him however. The John and Yoko thing is very odd.

@tribbingg John was a Immature, ambitious, Young man on the cusp of pop stardom at the time of Julian Lennon's birth. By the time of Sean Lennon's birth he had matured into a fulfilled ex-beatle, who had done everything he wanted to do in music and more, and was ready to settle down. John loved both of his sons equally, its just that his situation during the time of his son's births was different, which translated in him being able to care for one more than he could the other.

Exquisite and painfully beautiful, like a painting in motion more than a film. His voice and melodic mood remind me of Elliott Smith - art could be called structured but it's also imprisoning and so is life itself - I'm left with a feeling of wanting to protect him and to psychoanalyze the film like a mandala. His eyes are so expressive they form an artistic depth that I don't think exists in Western musical structure; art is too much reality, in that life always chains a carefree soul.Queiro.
