What a wonderful interview! Sean is a very interesting guy and Adam is a insightful interviewer! My favorite part is when two men with different political views can have such a civil discourse and not have it degrade to mud slinging. I especially liked the connection to McCarthyism. We really have come full circle! It's great when both sides of the isle can come to that conclusion. I'm a Conservative but I love to hear the Liberal point of view when it's communicated in a non dogmatic voice. Adam proves that if we are willing to listen we can learn and grow from one another. I get people will want to switch off when they hear an opposite point of view, but when it's said with a respectful tone and it's not preachy we should listen. Nice job Adam!

Kudos to Adam for driving a very engaging interview. Normally I'll take a pass on ANYTHING Sean has to say but when I saw he was on Adam's show I couldn't resist. That so much of it had nothing to do with politics was refreshing although I'd be lying if I didn't say I didn't appreciate Adam going there in the final stretch. But credit to Sean as well for being on Adam's show. Adam clearly leans right and that's no secret in Hollywood so for Sean to "buck the trend" and actually agree to a conversation is commendable...even if I disagree with him completely when it comes to politics. And I'm glad "At Close Range" was discussed because that's a great movie that has been lost to time and actually one of Penn's best performances.

I actually watched this whole podcast without skipping around, that’s a first. Carolla was great here and so was Penn....for the first hour. He made a lot of sense at the end with the hypocrisy of destroying people on social media and with the different movements and then would say something that would make me go, no way, don’t agree there. Blaming Trump for police brutality or the encouraging of it when it’s existed all of this time with countless Presidents in charge? After he just got done saying how he witnessed it when he was in jail himself in the 80’s? Trump is just speaking out of the outrageousness of people from the left abolishing police altogether, not for bad cops. Believing Blasey Ford? I guess that’s what makes us human, not everyone is gonna say the perfect thing for two hours

We live in a world of political correctness, and it was frustrating watching Adam and Sean dance around the points they wanted to make. Near the end, Sean finally expressed some of his political feelings. I certainly don't want to see another political argument. I'm just saying that it was refreshing to see him finally step forward and say "I think the problem is here and here." I don't agree with Sean, but I did breathe a sigh of relief, knowing someone is finally going to say what they think and how they feel. Unfortunately they ran out of time before they could have an honest discussion. (And I believe these men are fully capable of having one). It ended with "So what's your favorite woodworking tool?"

Adam, from the stories I have heard you tell about your mother, a good guess would be she has not been financially successful in life, and when she hears your woes she freaks out. She might be thinking how much you have and how little she has and wondering how dare you want even more when dear ole mom is lacking. Most people would consider your not having your book on the Best Seller's List a small problem compared to all you have in life. Now I know you just want your mom's accolodes and most mothers would shore up their child. Most mothers would be super proud to have you as their child. And you obviously inherited something good from your mother. So she can take a little credit for your success. You got her best genes in the chromosome shuffle. She is never going to give you what you want as she seems to be so focused on her life. Some parents are just jealous of their children. Sad but true.
