Sean Boswell's Monte Carlo from Tokyo Drift. Despite the movie focusing on JDM cars and drifting, producers still found a way to sneak in some American Muscle. Was that a good thing or a bad thing? Tell us in the comments below.

In the mid 80''s my brother bought one of these with some rust and faded paint for $200 from a family that lived across the street from my Grandma. It was owned by an old lady who passed away and it sat in the garage for years until they decided to sell it just to get rid of it because the family needed to use the garage for storage. It had all kinds of weird electrical issues but when that thing ran right it pinned you back on the seat and just destroyed the Mustangs, Monte Carlo's, corvettes, Trans AMs, Camaros of the 80's. So much fun just going right by brand new muscle cars like they were standing still in that rust bucket. I still remember going by a brand new mustang GT with the wheels just smoking as I'm going past him with 4 people in the car. When this movie came out it brought back all those great memories. Thing was a legend with all our friends and still comes up when we talk cars.

So a lot of you might be a bit jealous, just be happy for me! I have the #2 Stunt Car (non jumping version) from Tokyo Drift. Got it a few years back from the guy who originally bought it from Universal's Picture Car lot (I read they are not selling cars anymore). It came to me with dirt race tires on it - got another set of Soft 8 wheels and put street tires on - still 8" front and 10" rear of course. My first car was a 74 Monte, I later grew to like the original body style and someday wanted a 454 with 4 speed. Well I got one - a 70 with no side windows, wipers or turn signals, but I got no complaints! Happened to be surfing the web and bam - I could have the actual car that I had a 1:18 die cast model of...(the deal with the wife involved a couple other cars going away as I recall). Universal replaced the 509 it had during most or all filming with a 454 (has 632 valve covers). I have yet to get it on a dyno, but I am guessing around 500 hp anyway (backed by 4 speed Richmond T10 and 3.73 gears in a spool (yes - easy to Drift!). I try and always have a bottle of Tabasco sitting on the dash at car shows... took second in a loud exhaust contest, beat by side pipe Shelby Cobra.

When I was young I dreamed of some day owning a black Charger like Dom's that would do wheelies. In reality I ended up with a rough lime green 68 Plymouth Roadrunner clone with some similarities to Sean's Monte Carlo. Wide black steel wheels, big black hood scoop, mostly stripped out interior, racing fuel cell in the trunk, T handle shifter and loads of other old school speed parts. I only have about 2 grand in my current engine and it's making about 400 HP and 450 TQ. It's a 5.9 Magnum my friends and I pulled out of a big delivery van and upgraded with a Holley 4 barrel carb, big cam by Hughes Engines and Hooker headers. I put 3.55 gears in the rear axle and this dropped my top speed by about 20 MPH but greatly increased torque and acceleration. It has so much torque I can almost make the front wheels come off the ground when I tap the gas but my current tires just don't get enough traction. I already have a NOS sniper kit and I'm going to run a 100 shot soon after I get an AFR gauge to make sure I'm not killing the motor. Despite being rough and rusty it's one of the most respected cars at my local meets because people know I built it myself and they have seen it outrun cars that cost over $100 grand.

My father had an 84 SS Monte Carlo. White with blue interior. I loved that car. He sold it in 1991 because apparently after bringing back from Germany it started rusting really bad. He traded it in for a Geo Storm and my mother almost divorced him because of that.

Tokyo Drift really had the best stunts and cars of the entire franchise. This film could have been a standalone and would have been perfectly fine. I have to say, I haven’t seen a car/street racing movie since Tokyo Drift that has just nailed all that stuff the same way. Baby Driver had the stunts and the great filmmaking techniques, but it just didn’t have the cars. Others come to mind but Tokyo Drift is just a gem. That first scene with the Monte and the scene where they build and test the Mustang with the Skyline engine are just fantastic. Perfect car guy movie but somehow it’s still slept on.

The first and Tokyo movie are the best. The rest is all stunts and bullshit

My aunt owned a 70 Monte Carlo, right when I was debating about buying it, prior to watching this film, it sold.

Easily one of my favorite cars in the franchise. It looks realistic in the sense of who’s driving it. It gives the car a sort of charm. Also I love the stock car NASCAR look. One hell of a car🤘

That car is a beast. Very Powerful and that engine sound was brutal. Top 5 Fast and Furious cars IMO

The 69-70 Monte Carlo was the perfect choice, I had and built it's Pontiac cousin in high school a 67 Pontiac Tempest. Great job on the video. Thanks

It possibly was the most hyped I'd ever been for a FAF race. I was in auto shop when this came out so of course it was our hero. Of course, in true movie fashion, the badass muscle car gets totalled. One of the best movie cars!

I always thought of it like he was building his own car and that's where he was at in the project at the time. Doing what he could learning as he went. I miss the old movie style it was all about car culture. Now it's like GTA all about urban warfare

A 70’ Nova would have worked well also. Seeing the 70’ Monte Carlo in the beginning of the movie is what made me sit and watch it 🤙🏼

My first car was a '72 monte carlo when I was 17. Pretty good choice for the character in the movie.
