The only reason why Snyder gets the most heat is because he is the most prolific and divisive director. either you really love his work or you really hate it... but everyone goes to watch his movies no matter how much they hate him and his films. Nah this was poorly done. Releasing the PG13 movies first was a mistake, I and everybody I know who’s seen these movies had no idea the directors cuts were even coming out and we already saw the 2nd film months ago and declared it a bad movie, because that’s what that version was. It ruined the directors cuts for me, because now I’ve already seen the movies and the hype and chance to see something new on screen is gone already, and it feels like I’m just watching a cleaned up version of the same movie being sold to me twice. This is just like justice legaue all over again, nobody cares about a directors cut when it comes out months after the original movie except hardcore fans, if you gave people both options from day 1 it would be different and if you’re not releasing the directors cuts first, you’re not going to draw in many fans that stick around long enough for you to release both versions, because most people will see those PG13 films first, and just say they don’t like rebel moon.

I still don't care for none of these characters. I don't click off of the movie and find myself interested in any fan art or spin offs or anything like that and it makes me sad because he's one of my favorite directors so you can't help but think he's damaging his own reputation. In the end I agree too that he just needs to hand off his ideas to a capable writer, someone who can marry his ideas from page to screen and make us care again. So I watched the directors cut staying away from watching the “theatrical” cuts just cuz anytime Zach Snyder has a directors cut it means there’s gonna be a lot of edits that just show and take away from the experience. With that said, having just watched both movies in Snyder vision, it’s definitely 7 samurai meets Star Wars with some sprinkles of Star Trek and Dredd action. Don’t ask me why I thought of the last 2 but I did lol. Taking all that into account I really enjoyed the films, Snyder obviously was heavily influenced by work from before but who isn’t. The visuals were great. Story wise I like that I got a story from most of the characters. Definitely a world that has me intrigued. There’s so much gripe about Hollywood making remakes or sequels. It was a fresh to see a story that wasn’t held back due to being a part of some existing franchise.

Besides that I actually rather enjoyed the Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness way more I would not do anything to change the overall runtime of these epic movies. I stayed up until 3:15 am PST on the night of August 1 to watch Chalice of Blood and man It felt like a better movie from the beginning it actually felt like a Zack Snyder Movie, blood actually splatters, dialogue means more, and the characters have more purpose. On August second I watched The Curse of Forgiveness just like the first one it was very gory and the characters are mor developed, I rather enjoyed the hour and a half long battle sequence. In both movies Anthony Hopkins gets more screentime as JC-1453, Kora gets more depth, Admiral Noble is more of a jerk , and Private Aris seems is more of a character who holds his own . Since the directors cuts dropped I have seen them 4 times . I can not wait for part 3 of Rebel Moon.

_Zack Snyder's directorial approach often thrives in the unrestrained, mature realms of his extended cuts, as exemplified by the rated R version of _*_Rebel Moon._* _This cut was lauded for its profound depth and gritty narrative, surpassing even the high-caliber spectacle of _*_Dune_*_ in its immersive storytelling and visual grandeur. Snyder’s vision, which frequently faces constraints from studios seeking broader audience appeal, benefits significantly from the creative freedom afforded by his Director's Cuts._ _These unabridged versions allow for a more authentic expression of his artistic vision, reflecting his meticulous attention to detail and narrative complexity. The studio's limitations often undermine his unique style, resulting in a diminished representation of his true potential, which is fully realized when he is allowed to work without such constraints._ _This movie achieved an epic cinematic quality, with its color grading flawlessly aligning with the film’s tone, enhancing the overall atmospheric depth and visual storytelling. However, a recurring issue with Zack Snyder's films is his penchant for leaving audiences on cliffhangers, which often feels like a deliberate move by Warner Bros. to generate demand for more content. This strategy, while effective in building anticipation, can also be frustrating, as it leaves viewers craving resolution and continuity that is not immediately provided._ _I wish WB would release the 3 1/2 hour virgin Director cut of man of steel_

I did NOT watch the PG-13 cut. I just finished Part Two of the Director's Cut. I was decently excited for the movie after it was announced (having just watched the Snyder Cut Justice League.) Heard the reviews and had no problem not watching for many months; not knowing if or when i would check it out. Heard the director's cuts were out and i decided to watch them over the weekend. SPOILERS AHEAD! Part One: It was decent. Some fantastic action! A terrifying villain. I was mixed on the set of characters. I don't dislike anyone, but wasn't anyone i fell in love with (other than Jimmy!😃) The story was alright. Was just "building the band" and a little fight at the end. Plus the victory doesn't even matter because we just revive the villain. So...we just built the band. That's it. 7/10 Part Two: I had a REALLY good time with this one! This one is similar in that its just "exploring the band" and then a big fight at the end. But i enjoyed the characters a lot more in this one. And it felt like it mattered what was going to happen. People were going to die. The final battle was magnificent!! And everybody got a moment or two to shine! I can't say I've seen so much slo-mo farming before in my life. It went on sooo long!!! It was hilarious how ridiculous it got!😂 It worked for me. It shouldn't, because it does nothing for most of the movie. Halfway through, you realize nothing has changed from the end of the first one! It's really just a rest and a final battle added on to the first one. It is one movie split into two. That said, the action and characters were greatly improved! 9/10 I think watching them together as one giant event could have helped them significantly. Looking forward to 15 more hours of this. 🤣 Now...on to Watchmen!😮

@noahfejeran26325 ай бұрын
After watching both cuts, I’m a bit upset. Now, you’re probably wondering why I’m a bit frustrated, well unfortunately it has nothing to do with Netflix. Unfortunately it has to do with the man himself, Zack Snyder. Look, I love the guy, he seems to have all these amazing ideas and whatnot, but unfortunately he’s gotten too involved in the writing process, and has also gotten too crazy over his creative freedom. I understand not being able to have freedom with past projects he’s done in the past, but when he gets too crazy over it, it gets messy and unfortunately the directors cuts showed that. I said it before last time cause me and some friends were discussing it today, he’s basically the modern day George Lucas, where he has all these cool ideas but when he’s in too much control over the product, it ends up being shit. It’s like what Shia Labeouf said about movies in general and especially Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen: “When movies end up being complicated, they become shit”. There’s too many cooks in the kitchen, you need to have someone that knows what your idea is so that they can be able to understand and challenge your ideas and put it to pen on paper. And if Zack keeps getting too involved in the writing process (instead of hiring writers to be able to challenge his ideas instead of surrounding himself with yes men) then he can make good movies instead of just jumping on the hype train that involves 3-4hr original cuts of his movies when instead he should’ve been doing it right the first time. If you’re not doing the thing right the first time, then I fucking bother doing it and it ends up being shit? Idk why it took me this long to finally realize that a filmmaker like Zack needs to just let others challenge his ideas, because it’s clear that he’s not the best writer on the planet and that there are more writers out there he can hire that are willing to challenge his ideas. Like I said, love the man, he’s got very creative ideas, but if he keeps going crazy over how much freedom he has, then he’s just gonna end up pumping out dogshit, unless he can somehow turn it around in terms of whatever project he does next. The many different writers I think Snyder should hire if he wants to make good movies instead of hit or miss (these are just my suggestions): Christopher McQuarrie, Alex Garland, Christopher Nolan, David S. I loved pG 13 versions and i loved directos cut more , dont know. Why people dont like it, the story the characters are very interesting especially koras past is spellbinding i just loved both parts, for me both pg versions are 9 but in director cut 2nd part gets 10 from me bcz i feel in pg version there is something missing that make it 10 and directirs cut fill it

I’ve seen the directors cuts and have not seen the Pg-13. Honestly didn’t look into why there were two versions but I always like stories with detailed plots and character exploration that I tend to choose director cuts over original. With that, the violence was jarring and extended longer then I would have liked and felt like much. I also found myself more invested in each character and wanting more. I also feel like I have a decent understanding on how the world works. Downside: There were some scene were way to long without sharing relevant or interesting things. I liked but do not want to watch the pg-13 movies. I’m really interested to know what they cut and imagine what it would look like for the first time

I watched the first 2 cuts not knowing there were proper versions coming out. I remarked at the time how rushed they felt, Lansing on the planet and straight to nemesis etc. Just watched the first one uncut, pretty excellent.

Loved both cuts even more than the Netflix cuts. So much more depth, action, character time, and mythos 🎉🎉🎉

Very good review: 👍👍. I agree with the last part of the review: Zack Snyder should put his ideas of movies in the hands of competent writers to get a good - or great - script to work with. He has ideas, but writing, oh God, NO!

As a rule, I don't watch mindless action movies. Decided to sit this one out and take a break from the two books I am reading simultaneously: Cervantes' Don Quixote and Homer's Iliad. I actually enjoyed Rebel Moon even though I become incredulous when a 99 pound girl beats up five beafy men. I was very impressed by the quality of the production; it was top notch.

I don't think the added cold opening changed anything or fleshed out any character. I didn't really need to know that fake General Tarkin is evil, kidnaps children and he's looking for rebels, if anything it lessened the impact when he brings out the club in the village scene and when Korra tells here one-night stand that she was kidnapped.

I watched only the directors cut and I just watched it today. I thought it was an interesting movie but it had some problems. For me it was a little bit difficult to understand everything that was going on even though the story was pretty simple on a technical level. I rewatched some scenes when the movie was done just to get my head straight, like all the droid monologs, some exposition scenes and the like. Znyder defenetally takes his time during scenes and uses a lot of long pauses between lines for dramatic or emotional effect even though it doesn't allways pay off. I'm not as on board on the "show don't tell" train then everyone else seems to be riding, for me it's ok to have exposition as long as it's good. But generally it does usually feel better if i can experience lore being handed to me through a story rather than learning it through monolouge. But in a movie like this, having exposition can make up for a lot of time and freedom in when that information needs to be dealt. I think they handled it fine in this movie even though I was a little bit confused at times, but I have ADHD so I know I have a little bit more of a difficulty staying focused than others. Me and my girl friend also both hate the weird lense focus and fish eye ratio which makes most of the screen blurry and augmented in a way I can only discribe as distracting and irritating. I'm intrigued to see where the movie goes in the sequal but if it's just more of the same I'm going to be a bit dissapointed. The little action that existed was very good, the world building was ok but not super impressive, and the characters where cool but after their introduction we barely got any interesting scenes with them except for the main character. Conclusion: The movie was good but a bit slow and uneventfull when thinking about the length of the movie. It made me intruiged, hopefull yet at the same time worried about the sequal which I think I'm most likely going to watch later this week.

I watched the Directors Cuts over two nights. Part One did expand on the first release but I didn't think that 3 hours and 24 minutes was needed to do that. It could have been under 3 hours with tighter editing. Part Two, however, at 2 hours and 45 minutes was a significant improvement. It had more development of the characters and, especially, their back stories. It's action was far more brutal but it fit the narrative. Then there was the Rue Kali powering the dreadnaught who turned out to be a fully sentient being whise sacrifice would lead to an insurrection by her sister's who clearly are the equivalent of slaves being forced to serve the Realm and its dreadnaughts. Her scene with Cora was one of the best in the movie. Part Two was far more riveting than Part One. In regards to the mention of Zack Snyder's full version of Justice League, it was vastly better than the first Joss Wheedon version but HBO should never have allowed Snyder to release it in the old 4:3 aspect ratio. It was ridiculous in this day and age where almost every household has a wide screen TV and showed what a self indulgent prick Snyder can be if left unchecked and to his own devices.

I liked them, but he uses same method of character building on all of them. It is kinda like using the same word over and over again when you tell a story or describe something. Something you learn fast as school not to do and it is a reason for synonymous. Same goes for story building.

Good video. I only watched the director's cut of the Rebel Moon movies and thought that they were a decent duo-logy. I will never see the PG-13 cuts of the movies because this is something he's always known for, and speaking as a fan of his, I don't want to see an inferior version of his film, I started doing this since I saw both cuts of "Dawn of the Dead (2004)".

I like the world in the PG-13 version but it was too clean and the characters really lacked definition. I watched the adult versions 2 weeks ago and was blown away! What a great world building full of interesting characters and lore!!! I really hope we'll get other movies/series! Like... I NEED to see the rebellion of the Kalis! I need to know more about Sam. I want to see Balisarius getting his due desserts. :D I rewatched the 2 movies in a row today to show them to my bestie (who didn't watch the PG-13 versions) and she loved it so much too. And I even loves them more this second time! Hail to the Snyder King!

I’d say that Part 1: Director’s Cut probably did as much as it could with improving Part 1. I’m a little less happy about the Part 2: Director’s Cut, but it’s probably due to the fact that I watched these consecutively.

I only saw the directors cut of part 1. I have not seen part 2 yet of either version. As far as part 1, I thought it was a fairly decent movie and much better than most sci fi on Netflix. On par I quality to 300. Character development made sense and it felt like a 7 samurai movie that it seemed like the true villains of the movie was the protagonist as they created this whole thing and escalated the severity of the situation. But it was very unlike any other typical sci character Star Wars hero journey of the thing. I was happy I watched it. It was decent.

Yeah I heard from Critical Drinker that the PG-13 version sucked because there were so many disjointed scenes put together that didn't make sense. I wanted to watch the whole version so I waited until today to watch it. I loved it! I can only imagine the PG version must have been annoying without all of the extra darkness that it stripped away.

I would like to see a spin off movie of Jimmy the android lol. Would like to see him have an arc where he gets decimated in an act of self sacrifice, or something honorable, and then upgraded when he's rebuilt. And exacts revenge ruthlessly right after 👍. Probably won't happen tho 🤣☠️.

I saw the original cut back in December, skipped Part 2. Just finished both director’s cuts. Original was fine, but felt generic and didn’t interest me too much. The director’s cut actually sucked me in and made me wanna watch Part 2. And I enjoyed them, derivative sure but if you just want Star Wars + Seven Samurai with Zack Snyder visuals and direction it definitely delivered that. I think the longer runtime made things more emotional and immersive, and for someone who hadn’t seen the original cut of Part 2 the battle scene was fun.

DId Zack Snyder said it was Inspired from "7 Samurai" and "Dirty Dozen" during the time when Zack Snyder was a student to his Professor? Why keep focusing on Star Wars - because the movie is Science Fiction in Space? The early Flash Gordon movie of 1936s and "Throne of Blood" 1957 is pretty much like Star Wars. Did Star Wars copied from "Flash Gordon 1936" and "Throne of Blood" 1957?

I liked both versions.
