Once again Snyder proves he should not be let near the writing room. All of his movies suffer from when his hands are on the plot and pacing of the story. This is basically a flashy recreation of Seven Samurai but filled with so much unnecessary junk. He’s only useful for producing "cool" visuals, but even then he often goes overboard with things like slo-mo to the point where the overall impact is watered down. That makes a lot of sense. Get us invested in the individual characters first, them introduce us to the world and develop the main story, with the individual characters we already know entering as normal. Much better format. Given how Snyder had to essential repackage two 3+ hour rated R movies into two 2 hour PG-13 movies, I can see a situation where he had to take whole sequences and splice them in elsewhere or move them to a different movie to adequately get the story beats to at least make sense. I wouldn't be surprised if the director's cuts don't just add missing scenes, but somewhat repackage how the story is presented.

Well, her arc in the overall story which will be released later on this year is far more fully fleshed out However, I still wouldn’t say that what was made is ‘lacking character’ throughout the movie as some people state, I really think thats not really a valid reason to say the movie is bad as there is lots of character development in it But for some reason if some characters are lacking full development (as all movies do) Snyders movies always get torn down for this even though Kora, Noble, her BF, and others have enough screen time to understand who they are You simply cannot give every single character the screen time in what some of the critics are stating That’s just this way with every single movie that’s ever been made Question, is there ANY character development within part 1 and 2… YES and if anyone states otherwise, I genuinely believe it’s such a bad opinion simply cause enough currently exists to still make the movie work

I’m honestly a bit concerned about how some people didn’t appreciate this movie. I thought it was absolutely brilliant. The slow pacing really allowed the film to dive deep into every tiny detail-like the way she cuts her hair or the meticulous way she turns the mega cannon to the ship’s bridge. It wasn’t just about the big moments; the backgrounds and small touches really added to the storytelling. It felt like a true masterpiece. But I’m starting to think that maybe people who are so used to fast-paced content-like reels and KZbin shorts-might be missing the point. This kind of film isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay, but I just wish people would take the time to appreciate the depth here. Honestly, if you're going to watch it, the director's cut for both parts is the way to go. It’s such a better experience. I just hope more people can open themselves up to this kind of cinema. It deserves to be seen in the right way.

Rebel Moon Part Two was just... Okay... I mean, I liked the first film better in terms of story, but the second part struggled to bring any new information into this situation, other than the whole princess thing. It was fine to get some backstory for each of the principal characters, but it relied too much on the audience to remember details about the first film. It tried really hard to be the Dune/Avengers Endgame of itself, but I would have liked more focus on explaining why this platoon of intergalactic law enforcement has the technology to resurrect a whole body but can't artificially manufacture simple grains for food... Nonetheless, the resolution that we get from the actual fight was satisfying. It was very clever how the rebels got onto the ship, and the "moon-dwellers" self-actualized and proved themselves to be the unexpected warriors that the lower class needed to fight the unjust system. Hopefully, the princess cliffhanger can tie some loose ends and wrap this story up with more mechanical flow in the story.

Just watched this yesterday, and eh... Feels like so much information is missing, like it was intentionally written as a much longer movie and they just took chunks out (just like the first movie). It's not that you can't follow the story, but it constantly feels rushed. I didn't HATE it, but it really needs more everything to be even adequate. I think it would've worked better as a show. Each backstory is an episode. Each battle sequence is an episode. The setup for each battle sequence is an episode. The overall story could've progressed at a more natural pace with all the linking scenes and character moments the movies are missing. That being said, the action sequences were awesome and almost (ALMOST) made up for the rest of it being a drag. I really hope the director's cuts actually make these movies good, or at least okay.

I'm a Snyder fan too, but Rebel Moon Pt. 2 just wasn't that great. The first hour was unnecessarily dragged out - I get that it was an effort to get us more emotionally engaged with the characters and the village and lifestyle they're going to defend, but for me it fell flat. The dialogue was really badly written and could easily have been tightened up and livened up ... Snyder's co-writers on the screenplay (Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten) have worked on some movies I love ('Atomic Blonde' and 'John Wick 4') so I'm really disappointed that the dialogue was so cheesy and stilted. Having said that, I loved the action scenes which kicked in in the second hour of the movie. 'Rebel Moon' does have a lot going for it - I'm a massive fan of Sofia Boutella and I think the cast overall was very strong, I just wish the script had made me care more about the characters. I'm not going to critcize the slow-mo. For me, it makes watching a Snyder movie kind of like reading a comic, in the sense that it allows you to linger for a moment on particularly gorgeous or significant images. I'll definitely watch the director's cuts when they come out, but I have a feeling they won't solve the problems this movie has for me. But I hope it's a big success, because I want Zack to keep creating. He's done a lot of stuff that I really love and I know there's more of that standard of work in him. Just put him together with the right writers and magic happens.

netflix need not to do the two versions again just drop the definitive version the 1st time. if the director cuts are superior than why did u make a inferior version, but thats just me, with that said i did like part 2 and the epic action

Hated Pt1 so I’m waiting for the extended versions before watching 2
@tealelston9 ай бұрын
Honestly I really think they missed the mark by not releasing the extended cut of part 1 before this came out. I probably would have re-watched that version out of curiosity, but now I'm not so sure I'll watch the longer versions of these later. I'll probably just rely on Heavy Spoilers' video about them to get the gist of it. These movies just feel like an overindulgent child's idea of what "cool and hardcore" rather than any sort of sci-fi epic. I know Zack Snyder can make great movies, but I just feel like he's lost touch with what made some of his early movies great and is just pandering to his stans that will eat anything he gives them and call that a masterpiece.

The directors cut of episode 2 was….dare I say….not that bad? Yes, it was a little slow and had some stupid parts. But definitely an improvement from a story standpoint than the original that played on Netflix. Made much more sense with some of the scenes flushed out

The concept is good… has a great cast, visuals, production. Did enjoy it… but yes it needs a better writing.

It was ok but too fragmented until the final hour of part 2. Certain characters ignored or had too little development. Action sequences were fine and I did not mind some slo mo but that can be overdone. My biggest problem with the movie was the awkward mix of technology. Farms using old fashioned implements but floating platforms to hold the harvest. Advanced weapons found suddenly to arm the village. A coal fired starship with a scene out of titanic in the engine room.. The old fashioned ww2 style rotary dials to aim the big starship guns. He really needed an experienced military sci fi person to get the tech appropriate through out the movie. You just can’t have a starship with workers shoveling coal into furnaces and that’s supposed to be believable. The storyline is strictly the seven samurai or magnificent seven we’re single protagonist assembles a group of warriors who altruistically go to protect a village from an enemy threat. I don’t mind the concept. It’s just the uneven and fragmentation needed better editing

Snyder is a good director, but it depends on his source material. His own writing is way to derivative of other better films that it just doesn't hit.

Rebel Moon Pt 2.... Return of slow motion.... 2 HOURS of slow mo. Bold of Zack Snyder to assume someone would sit through a third movie after that bloated childrens story.
@matthewwendt73159 ай бұрын
A directors cut needs to just be the original film with deleted scenes that the studio cut. You have to make the original version as if its the only one anyone will ever see snd if they love it they can watch the directors cut with scenes that were not essential/crucial thrown in
@havenht9 ай бұрын
It's a bad movie. All I can think about throughout the entire film is why they didn't just ship those 30 farmers to a different planet, or sell the ship and give each of them the money to move somewhere else. There were only about 30 people in that village.

Rebel moon 2 just as fast paced like a montage and a ridiculous amount of slow mo. You know typical Snyder

you have to wait 1 hour for the film to start. Too many inconsistencies, we don't believe it. the death scene of the KING with violins 🎻!? But who wrote this scenario? HOW CAN YOU RUIN AN INTERESTING STORY? But what a disappointment!!! Too many slow motions of scenes that are too long like the wheat harvest... how can it be worse than part 1!? The ending makes no sense. Princesse ISSA !?

This movie was like a poorly made 166 million dollar Syfy movie which is hilarious. Like you said, there is no way this should have been a two part movie. Dude needs to hire a great editor and writer that never let him have any input on those things.
