Bro, that's not the problem, the problem is liberalism and it's always been at the forefront of Hollywood. U know the phrase Politically correct was first used in the 70's. I would argue it's been slowly infused even a bit earlier. Just saying. Sorry to go all politic but ignorance is bliss and I'm not ignorant...

Thanks for the great content Sean! My ranking is: 5. Furiousa: A Mad Max Saga. It’s a good movie but I hated the CGI and it kinda felt like MCU to me. 4. Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. I agree with most of Sean’s criticisms but to me the the good way outweighs the bad and it gives me nostalgia. 3. Mad Max. I love that movie and the franchise that came after this movie created this badass world. 2. Mad Max: Fury Road. That movie really surprised me in how good it was. Charlize Theron was amazing but I do prefer more Mad Max in my Mad Max films. 1. Mad Max2(The Road Warrior). Easily my favourite of the franchise! Mel is on top 10 actors as well as top 5 directors!
@brianmcpherson10837 ай бұрын
Bro! I couldn't agree more with Furiosa overtaking Thunderdome for the least favorite. While I've never "whined" that it's not a Mad Max movie... It's not a Mad Max movie. So, that's your first hit. Then as you pointed out, the green screen and CGI are just endless in this one and takes you out of the feeling of real danger that is present in the rest of the franchise. It also doesn't help for me that visually it feels so similar to Fury Road, that it just makes me want to watch the vastly superior Fury Road instead. I don't hate it by any means. I just don't see myself in any hurry to see it again.

Shew this is tough for me. Beyond Thunderdome in last and one I've seen maybe 3 times and dislike it more each time. The other 4 are excellent. I think I'll always enjoy the original the most cause it was the first R Rated film I saw on VHS in the early 90s when I was 11 or 12. Second would be Mad Mad 2, Fury Road then Furiosa.

1. The Road Warrior 2. Fury Road 3. Mad Max 4. Furiosa 5. Beyond Thunderdome The Road Warrior is the one that I watch the most and I find the characters the most interesting. Mel Gibson will always be the definite Max as far as I'm concerned. Fury Road was awesome, and I love it, but I have to give the nod to Warrior as I love everything about it. Mad Max was a great way to start the franchise. Despite is low budget it holds up very well. Just saw Furiosa and have to say I was a bit disappointed. It is really good, but I was just expecting more. Also, the CGI really sticks out in some scenes. Makes it seem more like a Marvel movie than a Mad Max movie. Not really a lot of insight on the characters that are in Fury Road. Also, I found Furiosa more interesting in Fury Road than in this one. Beyond Thunderdome suffers as half of it is really good, but half of it is pretty dull. Tina Turner was great, but the movie overall is just not that good.
@aussiegor6667 ай бұрын
1) Mad Max 2 - Fury Road was more spectacular, but this movie will always be #1 in my heart. I always played with my toys as a kid with this movie in mind (yes I probably saw it at too young of an age but I'm Australian - it's a rite of passage). I will always love the core set up of this movie - just like a medieval castle siege but with V8 powered killing machines instead of horses and crazed bikers instead of knights. All of the crazy wild characters in this story where so memorable - Humungus, the feral kid, Wez, the gyro captain, Toadie, Curmudgeon. I loved them all. 2) Fury Road - This is probably the biggest spectacle I have ever witnessed in a movie theatre. It was one long non-stop action packed, face melting chase that never let up. Yeah the story is extremely light but who cares? I almost didn't want to drive home after seeing it because I felt a little too adrenaline fueled to safely control a car. 3) Furiosa - Great story telling and world building. I would always recommend for newcomers to watch this before Fury Road, rather than watching them by release date. I see it as a great warm up act for the main headliner that is Fury Road. It's nice to see a deeper character in the Wasteland other than Max because typically you don't get a lot of back story unless you delve into the comics and other references. Having loved the restraint of CGI in Fury Road, the sometimes overuse of it here was distracting however. At times it's even almost bad CGI. 4) Beyond Thunderdome - I liked the story of this movie but I didn't like the way it was told. It felt like big Hollywood got involved and wanted a less brutal story for Max which just doesn't fit. I liked all of the characters and the story itself but it felt like it needed some more grease and blood smeared over it to make it feel like a Mad Max movie. Not enough grit and grime for my taste. 5) Mad Max - An amazing original concept. Incredible stunts and action sequences created with barely any money. The story itself is one that has been told a million times, but I liked the setting it was placed in. Miller was just barely getting his head around the world he was creating and I wonder how good this could have been if he'd worked on it some more and had a bit more of a budget to work with. The acting is a little over the top sometimes which was not uncommon at the time, especially in Australian movies back then.

Thought Furiosa was great but would have loved to have seen that anime version. Since Furiosa isn’t doing well at the box office like most movies in general maybe the next Mad Max will be an anime to save on costs. The franchise just doesn’t have the mass appeal to recoup the costs of a big budget movie and marketing.

The actual budget of the first Mad Max movie was $230,000 AUD , the extra money was put up by the US distributors for some editing and to REPLACE the dialogue because they thought American audiences wouldn't understand what they were saying . Not only that , but in 1979 the Aussie dollar was worth around 60 US cents . A friend was the on set caterer and was paid less than peanuts , but like a lot of other key folks , they were offered points . When the US studio bought the US rights , everybody did very well . I agree about ThunderDome ( full disclosure , I worked in props and special effects on it for a week or so ) They were still working on the script after shooting started , the US studio were waving a big stick , people were written in because the studio dweebs ' liked the look of them ' . Hordes of people were involved ( the original had around 30 tech staff in the credits ... Fury Road is pushing 1000 ) nobody really seemed to know what was going on , and the finished movie looks like it .

5. Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome-From the PG-13 rating to the more unfocused narrative to the children in the second half of this film, I don’t think this movie comes together all that well, despite appreciating George Miller continuing to bring new influences into this franchise As a point of reference, I’m a big fan of the rest of these movies 4. Mad Max-Even though its not as large scale as the other films in the franchise, this movie works quite well when it comes to mixing together a post-apocalyptic setting, impressive action for the time, and a revenge angle it takes in the last section of the film to make for a solid directorial debut for George Miller 3. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga-A very well done edition to the franchise that has a large narrative, high energy Mad Max action, expansive world building, great imagery, and one of, if not my favorite performance from Chris Hemsworth 2. Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior-While this movie might not work the best for those who’re watching these movies for the first time right now, this sequel builds on everything that works about the first film and makes for a fast paced, high energy piece of action cinema that I love 1. Mad Max: Fury Road-While I understand this movie not being for everyone, because it’s able to expand upon this world with a $150,000,000+ budget and twenty-first century aesthetics, I absolutely love this movie for its George Miller visuals, Tom Hardy as Max, and of course, its phenomenal action sequences from beginning to end

Road warrior wins out fury road Their both reallly good and the best 2 but Mel Gibson as max gives off a more wrangler cowboy vibe, his design and look, and mannerisms beat out hardy, even though Hardy’s performance is great too in fury. But the story in road warrior has this nuance and love that really takes it a slight bit further over that finish line.
I (as a kid at that time) remember Thunderdome being not that bad, so for me position 5 is original 1st Mad Max, and maybe yeah then Thunderdome...

I am going to have to disagree about Furiosa having the most emotional stakes since the first movie. Fury Road, while 99% an action movie used its action including the chase sequences and every move the characters made for visual storytelling and it had an emotional centre with Furiosa helping these women escape from a life of forced wivery to Immortan Joe. It didn't always need dialogue to help us know what these characters were fighting for.
