Good stuff, thanks Cody and Sean! When ever I add bass to my songs I usually use one finger. I've been practicing using two fingers lately. It's challenge to keep them constant on timing and volume. When I play faster Thrashy metal stuff all delusions of being Steve Harris drop away and I grab a pick. For me, I've found the best way to get more bass in the mix isn't so much about turning up the bass in the mix as much as it helps to carve the bass out of the other tracks with EQ. Also I've heard that John Paul Jones is a one finger player, not sure if it's true .

So, when you palm mute the higher strings you pick the string with the thumb too? Is that correct? I tried index and middle finger and the angle was very awkward.
