After hearing this at the end of “The Accountant” movie, I’ve been playing this song in the car and on my guitar. I’m still quite ❤confused about the seemingly deep meaning of the song, but I think it’s fantastic. Great voice and haunting lyrics….. I’m now listening to more of Sean’s work. Well done Sir….. 👏👏

These lyrics appear to be describing a reflection on life's priorities and the desire to leave a lasting legacy. The songwriter acknowledges that they may not know the person well, but they perceive a lack of authenticity or honesty in their actions ("you can't lie to me with all these books that you sell"). The songwriter expresses a reluctance to blindly follow someone or be caught up in worldly pursuits, instead desiring to leave something meaningful behind. The lyrics touch upon the idea that words can come from both wise and foolish individuals, and it can be challenging to discern the truth amidst different voices ("but I can't help thinking that I have heard the wrong crowd"). The mention of water running out and the impending loss of the songwriter's job suggests a sense of urgency and the need to make a lasting impact before it's too late. The song emphasizes the contrast between the value of money and love, highlighting that love is more precious than material possessions. The reference to a broken and red future implies a world in turmoil or conflict, further emphasizing the songwriter's desire to make a positive difference. The lyrics convey a sense of detachment from the world, with the songwriter feeling like a stranger in a foreign land. The line "we swallow the moon, but we do not know our own hand" suggests a disconnect between humanity's accomplishments and its understanding of itself. Despite this, the songwriter acknowledges the pursuit of a goal ("we're running with the case") even if the desired outcome is not yet attained. There is a recognition that the world is changing, and the songwriter feels compelled to resist the negative impact of technology or machinery on human experiences ("when the machine has taken the soul from the man"). The song urges the listener to leave something meaningful behind, suggesting that there is more to life than material wealth. The lyrics express a desire for wisdom and a frustration with society's focus on external appearances and superficial markers of age ("wisdom is lost in the trees somewhere... not gonna find it in some mental gray hair"). The songwriter contemplates their own mortality and hopes that their son will understand the deeper meaning behind their actions when he becomes a man. Overall, the song seems to be a reflection on the importance of love, authenticity, and leaving a positive impact on the world, despite the challenges and distractions that life presents.

Sean Rowe you do an excellent job summarizing a 2 hour movie in 6 minutes. This song will be forever tied the Accountant I, i hope they also use it at the end of the Accountant 2, which will be out soon. You deserve to be the theme song of both movies. That being said, this song reminds me of my dad, who passed away 20 years ago, he left behind 3 sons that became something to be proud of, 2 doctors and a chaplain. My dad only had a 9th grade education, but through hard work and selfless determination he made sure his sons would be as successful as possible. Thank you for writing a song that epitomizes my dads efforts. May God Bless You......Retired Police Chaplain S. E. Barker

Now for sure, leaving something good behind will also be good for future. .. Well done Sean, All the best Sean Rowe.

I cannot say that I know you well But you can't lie to me with all these books that you sell I'm not trying to follow you to the end of the world I'm just trying to leave something behind Words have come from men and mouse Oh, but I can't help thinking that I have heard the wrong crowd When all the water is gone my job will be too So I'm trying to leave something behind Oh, money is free but love costs more than our bread And the ceiling is hard to reach Oh, the future ahead is broken and red And I'm trying to leave something behind This whole world is a foreign land We swallow the moon, but we do not know our own hand Oh, we're running with the case, but we ain't got the gold Yet we're trying to leave something behind My friends, I belive we are at the wrong fight And I can not read what I did not write I've been to his house, but the master is gone Yet we're trying to leave something behind Now there is a beast who has taken my brain You can put me to bed, but you can't feel my pain When the machine has taken the soul from the man It's time to leave something behind Oh, money is free but love costs more than our bread And the ceiling is hard to reach Oh, the future ahead is already dead And it's time to leave something behind Now, I've got this feeling that I'm still at the shore And pockets don't know what it means to be poor I can get through the wall if you give me a door So I can leave something behind Oh, wisdom is lost in the trees somewhere Oh, you're not gonna find it in some mental gray hair It's locked up from those who hurry ahead And it's time to leave something behind Oh, money is free but love costs more than our bread And the ceiling is hard to reach When my son is a man, he will know what I meant When I was just trying to leave something behind And I'm trying to leave something behind
