Yes, but so far these things are great. I got 3 of them installed. Actually, they charged my phone faster than I thought they would too.

Very cool. Will this charge an iPhone through an otter box or do you have to take the protective case off each time?

Good question, it won't charge through any metal, but your phone wouldn't do that on a regular QI either. If you can do it now through your otter box then it should. Depends what you have as there are different Otter boxes.

My phone can be iffy, charging through the Otter Box. Not sure why, but it basically is rubber and plastic, which probably limits any type of conductivity.

@@johnandrus3901 The rubber should not stop it and it is really strong because has to go through a tabletop. They actually have a note in the package not to place your phone directly on the charge unit itself or it could damage it. Another thing is to move up to the 50mm model which would be even stronger, and you'd probably have no issue.
