Afterburner is always so under appreciated. If you’re from my generation and you grew up in the 80s, you’ll get it. It’s just a fun and rocking album, yes it actually does still rock more than most of their other albums. Recycler is easily the best 90s album too, I don’t see absolutely anything wrong with that album either. It’s definitely stronger than anything that’s come after it in my opinion

Good show Scott and Pete. Tough to pick with such a solid catalog but here goes: '70s - Tres Hombres. 'Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers' seals it for me but Fandango! is so close. '80s - El Loco. Love the other two but I still love the sound they brought on El Loco best. '90s - Antenna. 'Pincushion' alone propels this record for me. Rest - La Futura. Return to form and nice template for the one they are working on now (imagine Jeff Beck playing!)

Though the post-seventies studio trickery that seems to be all over their albums annoys me quickly, I still really like almost the whole catalog. - 1970s: Tres Hombres (Side 2 of "Fandango" is right there with it, though, Actually,, all of the seventies stuff is stellar!) - 1980s: Afterburner (I know I'm in the minority here, but I really dig this album. I understand why most people don't like it much, though. It has big sentimental value for me, as well.) - 1990s: Rhythmeen (I listened to this a ton when it came out.) - 2000s/2010s: La Futura (I like this a lot. "Mescalero" is solid as well, but has about four too many songs on it.) If anybody hasn't yet seen the documentary about them (That Little Ol' Band From Texas) do so right away! Thanks for the video, Pete & Scott. Great shiny Utopia shirt too, Pete! Now to watch...

BIlly just said in a recent interview that we haven't heard the "last laugh" from ZZ Top and there will likely be a new album at the earliest this years end, if not next year... a long wait... but its going to a be gift for fans. I've seen them 3xs and will see them again if I can. They should tour with Rival Sons... that would be tits. Wow the 70s is tough! Ugh....ahhh....I guess I'll go with Deguello with Rio Grand Mud as a very close second. Sheik and Have You Heard from Tres Hombres knock that one down a bit below these two for me. Eliminator for the 80s - its a perfect album. Though I like Rythmeen a lot, Antenna wins out. Between Mescalero and La Futura, La Futura is the better album due its brevity and good sequencing ; however, there is a fantastic album hidden within Mescalero if one trims some fat and re-sequences it, it feels like a low-fi mix of Deguello and Rythmeen, with a touch of Eliminator in there: Liquor, Alley Gator, Buck Nekkid, Stakin Paper, What it Is Kid, Tramp, Dusted, Going So Good are fantastic... Speaking of La Futura, the two bonus tracks are great and can be purchased from I-tunes for those interested (Threshold of a Breakdown and Driveby Lover).

70's Tres Hombres 80's Eliminator 90's Recycler. 00 and 10- IDK I agree with their criticism of Recycler and the few albums after. But Recycler is a good album. Most of the songs are good at least the first side. Delirious is a great song. I have a soft spot for Velcfro Fly because of the rhythm although it is not a great song. Sleeping Bag has snot aged well either. But Stages, Can't Stop Rockin and Planet of Women are good songs. Rough Boy is not bad even though it is not their best ballad. Morning Wood has fine music but is a little stupid lyrically. But then again many of their earlier songs were the same. Pearl necklace anyone. In the end Recycler is not a bad album. It would have been much better to not go so hard on the synths and drum machine It could have been much better. But it is not bad.
