- 'Do You Close Your Eyes' from Rainbow's "Rising". In an otherwise very forward-thinking album, this one sounds like a reject from the debut. Also, I still don't know what "Do you close your eyes when you're making love" means. - 'Take On All the World' from "Hell Bent For Leather". A slog of a song on an otherwise very successful attempt at making a more streamlined version of music that Judas Priest made before. I feel like 'United' from "British Steel" was a better attempt at this anthem formula. - 'Make Time for Love' from Warlock's "Triumph & Agony". Not terrible, I've certainly heard worse attempts at ballads, but it's rendered unnecessary considering that the album already has a better ballad at the end of the album, 'Für Immer'. - 'Dance of the Dandy Hound' from Skyclad's "Silent Whales of Lunar Sea". My favorite Skyclad album, and I love every song, but they decided to "gift" us with a "bonus" song at the end that's nothing but bad bluegrass, hoedown music that makes 'Benny the Bouncer' sound like a masterpiece. Journey's Frontiers would have been a PERFECT album if it had its original sequence. The album had been sequenced and prepped for pressing when, in a last-minute conference with Journey's A&R man Michael Dillbeck, two songs were pulled from the original lineup, "Ask the Lonely" and "Only the Young." - My Destination does suck. But so does To Be A Man and I never really liked We're Ready. - Quest for Fire is dumb, but I kind of like it. I used to love Die With Your Boots On and now I find that one kind of silly and super repetitive. - Oh man! After Dark... I love that song. It's one of my favorites. The one I used to not like is Don't Turn Your Back, but it has grown on me over the years. - I actually really like Dyer Maker and will go to my death calling it DYE-ER MAKER. The Crunge is goofy, but I don't hate it. For me... let's see. Moving Pictures... Never liked Camera Eye. Powerslave - Losfer Words. Their worst instrumental. Sabbath's Born Again - Maybe not a PERFECT album, but there is only one song I don't like and it is the derivative Hot Line. Why did they play it live on that tour??? Bowie - Aladdin Sane. The cover Let's Spend The Night Together. I skip it every time, but otherwise the album is brilliant.

Moonchild off In The Court Of The Crimson King. The first few minutes are alright but then it turns into 9 more minutes of meandering nothingness. I'm not sure if they were struggling to fill the album or not, if so they could've put their version of Holst's Mars on there that they were playing live at the time (which they later reworked for The Devil's Triangle on In The Wake Of Poseidon). One of the greatest prog albums of all time but only 80% great.
@atlasking61102 жыл бұрын
Mars would have worked so much better than the 9 minutes of nothingness. The first 2 1/2 minutes are a cool little psyche-pop song, well not really pop but...it should have faded out 30 seconds into the improv.

Second time in a row Pete listened to my recommendation for a show! I’ll watch it later but my first choice is Mother on Synchronicity. If you told me that song broke up The Police, I would believe you. They let Andy Summers channel his inner early Pink Floyd and go with it. Just awful.

Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell II - "Life is a Lemon and I Want My Money Back" Jim Steinman always rode the line between charming, self-aware stupidity and cringe. This song steers clearly into the "cringe" lane, but without the grace of melody. Sitting as track #2 really did not do the album any favors but I really enjoy every other tune and feel that Bat Out of Hell II strongly delivered on what I'd want from a Steinman/Meat Loaf project.

When it comes to Gary Moore's "Falling In Love With You", Pete, I think you might have been listening to the remixed version which is certainly more of an 80s-style synth-heavy pop ballad, not sure if that was the version you got for the U.S. release. The original version released in the U.K is a straight-ahead slow blues number which is very much in the blues style that would become Moore's trademark later on in the 90s. I would check out that blues version and it might change your mind about the song.
