Kyushu Road Trip during Golden Week

Japan's longest holiday called Golden Week is said to be the busiest holiday of the year, when millions of people travel domestically to their homeland and, as such, the crowds are enormous and accommodations are booked out. and, tourists should stay away because everything is booked out... but maybe not!
We travelled 1300 kilometres during this 9 day period in 2024 and it was surprisingly quiet with very few international tourists and not many local tourists.
