I recognized Thomas right off- 20 odd years of working in childcare, he is easily spotted! =P =) I am grateful for the internet and your individual and joint jaunts! It's a virtual I Spy game, and I find myself saying out loud, "look there, what is it- pick it up so we can see it" namely what looked like a small cauldron or bean pot or maybe a chamber pot (or none of the above :) ) next to the lamp!! Thank you for taking us along!! I appreciate it!! I can't wait for the video compilation of mini mudlarks!! I'm sure it will be delightful-my thanks to the contributors and you Nicola for showing off their finds!

@@nicolawhitemudlark The round red glass that Si found @ 14:30 is the mate to the green one found @ 10:50...and VERY LIKELY are parts of your nautical, brass lamp. If you begin your larking adventure at the downstream end of the section of the river, as you search and cloud-up the water the current will carry that clouded water away and leave you with clear water to continue teasure hunting.

I have an explanation for the pipes embedded in mortar. In Gustave Flaubert's last novel "Bouvard et Pécuchet" his heroes build a door in the wall of their garden, surrounded by old pipes likewise embedded in mortar. It could be a forgotten fad of the times (first half of XIXth century). Thanks for the videos allways lively and informative.

I really like your videos and try to watch them as soon as they come out! As a suggestion, when you are mudlarking on small rivers such as this, would it be possible for you to insert a quick look at a map so that folks like me who live on the other side of the world (i.e.: Florida), could have an idea of where in England you are exploring? Nothing too detailed is necessary. Just something to show us where the river Wey is in relation to London, for example.
