I went camping in New Mexico. I caught a gorgeous trout. I cooked and ate my beautiful fish. I smoked a nice cigar. I slept under the stars to the lovely songs played by crickets ....

Maybe back in cave man times the fishing was at its best controlled only by nature. Then man invented the wheel and its all downhill since then. 😢 But we will have HOPE.😂😂😂😂😂

I was so pleased for you that at least it wasn't a total wash! I'm showing my age, but you reminded me of Bubbles and his mate from 'The Wire' running around Baltimore (the American one) desperately looking for 'Yellow~Tops'! When you headed back down to Cóbh I really thought, "this fella, he has it _baaad!"_ (In fairness though, you were vindicated - 'Hope', indeed) Actually one thing that struck me, watching the video - for all that Derryana and Waterville have all that craggy, dramatic scenery, it's easy to forget, there's a lot of quietly pretty towns and inlets around the Cork coast! (More attractive than inner - city Baltimore, for sure, with apologies to any natives of that fine city who may be reading!) Some class editing demonstrated as well Vince, in all fairness. So whats the deal with horse mackerel? What is it makes 'em so bad to eat? Too bony? Nasty tasting? Give you the trots, maybe?! I know, sorry, it's a stupid question - how would you know? Most people, when they're told something isn't good to eat, they don't feel the need to try it out, just to see _how_ it's not good to eat! I had Carp once - yeah, that was a mistake! Even though a lot of people from Eastern Europe have it at Christmas, I reckon that's probably because they figure once a year is more than sufficient, and not in a _good_ way! Very much a case of "Come back, pilchards, all is forgiven!" Definitely has an, umm, _'characteristic'_ taste. One that stays with you for days. And comes back to haunt you, just when you thought you were safe! Which brings me to Escolar, or, as I believe some people call it, 'White Tuna'... I was gonna buy myself a big steak (or as foodie types like to say, 'darne') of one of these fellas one time, just on a whim. By the grace of God, some impulse caused me to Google it; "Sh1+ through the eye of a needle at 40 paces", was, I think, the expression used - state of _my_ insides, f%&ker probably would have done for me - I'm not even joking! The American Food & Drug administration actually classify it as _poisonous!_ (I can only assume it must be delicious - I mean when it's classified alongside the notorious Japanese 'Fugio' fish (pretty sure I wrote that wrong!) and people still pay good money to eat it, that's gotta be saying _something!_ Good to know you enjoyed your tiddlers on toast. Maybe you oughtta have tried one of them 'Ugly Muthas' (Hell, _you'd_ look ugly too, if your cheek was all torn out!) They looked kinda like an Irish version of an 'Orange Roughy' - You know when the Aussies were giving it 'all that' about "putting another shrimp on the barbie"? They were lieing (lying?!) Those were Orange Roughy that were grilling away over the coals... So tasty are they, apparantly, that they're not even available any more! The Australians came close to fishing the entire ocean dry of them in 10 short years, had to put a complete embargo on 'em! Yessir, when they ask me, "Will it be the steak, or the fish, Sir?" I always say -- _"Both!"_ Surf & Turf, _"It's a winning combination!"_

Hope is good.😊 Ireland is a beautiful place if we just get a bit of dry weather. Doesn't have to be roasting just dry and the sales of alcohol will drop by 50% 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks for the great comment brought back many great memories. The good old days less complicated days. Cheers.

You will have to start in Bantry Bay the next time and do the grand tour of all the hot spots along the Cork coast, but by the looks of it you will most likely come up empty handed. Nice to bump into Pauly in Youghal, I was sure he would clean up with the feathers, the climate is banjaxed already I reckon. Soon you’ll need Velcro to keep up those trousers as you’ll be starved for the want of a fish by the way things are going!

Nice that you got on the mackerel. I like seeing the other species too. I didn't know you had sculpin over there. Your friend was using the rig I mentioned in the previous video. We call them sabiki rigs though. Funnily enough I am eating mackerel I caught right now it's pickled and enjoying a brandy. Your recipe looks really good. 👍

Mackerel my favourite fish to eat. Never tasted them pickled. Fishing in Ireland is getting worse every year. This year was my worst year ever. Hopefully it can only improve. 😂😂😂😂😂 or its golf and bringing a spare pants with me in case i get a hole in one. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

@@Vincentdonnelly5158 I think they may have moved over here. This was the first time I've seen so many mackerel caught over here. We hauled in a dozen out fishing and all would have been world records (over 2 pounds). The pickeled mackerel is like herring but denser meat.
