Is the Jersey Devil real? Since 1735, legend has it that a demonic creature has stalked the woods of one of America's oldest states; the Devil has given its name not just to hockey teams but to shops, wine, musical bands and a dizzying array of memorabilia. This episode follows a folklore author track the Jersey Devil through the Pine Barrens forest in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the dangerous legendary creature.
'Boogeymen' takes an in-depth look at the history of local monsters and travels to the small, picturesque towns where they appeared to listen to both believers and skeptics as they investigate the most recent sightings.

Many years ago as an 18 year old I would ride my dirt bike in the Pine Barrens. I once rode to an area I had never been to with my cousin. We stopped for a break and noticed the woods about 50 yards ahead was much darker, no birds or bugs and the area had a very creepy vibe. It didn't seem safe to continue forward, hair standing up on the back of our necks creepy. So we turned around and left. I'm not saying the Jersey Devil or Bigfoot was around, but the creepy vibe was strong enough we knew we had to leave immediately. Never went back there.

I live in NJ, as teens we would drive into the woods to see ghosts or jersey devil or whatever story was passed down & something always happened, like the toughest dudes i knew crying like babies bc they were scared to death
