This is on the island I’m born and raised on and this hike is NO JOKE. It’s insanely urged not to do because of how dangerous it is. If you slip off that cliff- that’s the end of the story because even rescue helicopters can’t get in the valley well enough for rescues. The ‘slide’ is a water run off shoot (I’ve also heard it’s an old sugar cane flume) but not made for humans to slide on so it’ll really eat your bottom up lol.

That slide looks like it's a blast. Reminds me of jumping off cliffs up in Canada. We always said it was 50" but we had no way of actually checking. I will say this, it tore the soles off my cheap tennis shoes and I was black and blue from my arm pit to my wrist form hitting the water with my arms out. The worst part was that it wasn't a nice straight cliff you had to kinda work your way out to a spot. There was a small ledge just big enough to get your feet on but you had to sit on a rock and slide down a slope about 5 feet before you could get your foot on the ledge. The cliff hung out over the water but the rocks had fallen from under neath so you could see them in the water. You had to jump out to make sure you cleared them. Aim for the dart water. Huge rush for stupid kids! I will always remember what it was like. When you jumped it felt like you just hung there for a few seconds, it was the strangest feeling. Then there was this rush of air going past your ears WOOSH! Then SPLASH! That was almost 30 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.

Seeing you both so happy about finding the ring and the apple watch reminds me of the time I found my first earing while cleaning up the beach. My family and I always bring trash bags to the beach in Costa Rica. One morning I went solo to the beach and was trying to get some exercise in. The day prior it had rained and trash had washed up. I walked in front of the millionaire home and low and behold next to an unopened can of Chef Boyardee buried in the sand, was a gold earring. The trees always have trash and debris. I never expected to find a ring. My guess is that a tourist lost it. The town we were in was a very touristy surf town. The back of the earring was rusted so I pulled the back off and now I keep the ring on my shelf in my room as a keepsake and reminder that spending 5-10 minutes a day cleaning up can go a long way.
