Simple Living Alaska

Күн бұрын

We head out for a summer adventure in the side by side, looking for black bears and caribou. Instead of filling our tags we fill our buckets with sun ripened wild blueberries high up in Alaska's scenic mountains. After three days of exploring we leave with knowledge of new terrain and eagerness to return for a future hunt.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀
Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! 💙

Hey guys! Your friendly Polaris mechanic from Minnesota here! That old Ranger has served you well! Awesome workhorse! Had one identical to it for several years. They do run HOT with engine under the seat but that’s a bonus in winter! Not so much in summer. Hope this finds you both doing well and getting prepared for winter! Looking forward to winter shop project videos! Take care!.

The bears have a feast with all those blueberries and fish. Seems odd that it's so hot in Alaska, but then it's warmer everywhere these days. You guys can make some blueberry jam and pies now. When I was a child, my brother, sister and I would go blackberry picking in the woods about 5 miles from our house. We'd get up at dawn and walk the 5 miles and pick until our buckets were full. My mother would make blackberry pies and we kids would eat the berries with milk and sugar. Fond childhood memories.

The bugs that were everywhere look a lot like Ants (Alates) on breeding flights. Annually, ant hives will produce massive numbers of drones and queens which will depart the hive in a flying swarm. They'll mate and the drone will die; then the queen will find someplace to create a new hive and bite off her wings.July and August are often when the swarms occur.

I have a suggestion for the next home project. Remove that big wood burning stove and replace it with a rocket mass heater or better yet a masonry heater. With the masonry heater you can add a cook top and an oven. Both options would be more efficient, burning less wood and heating the cabin better than the stove you have now. Just a thought because I would love to watch you do it.

I used to camp at the back of my Tundra with my two Jack Russells and a bear-sized dog many times. That was fun. Seeing Super-Bendit wearing his blanket on his back was too cute. Seems like he really enjoys the camping💕 Beautiful scenery, guys. Thanks for sharing this awesome video👍
