Despite not finding coins, I think this was a great hunt Brad. So many amazing and unusual finds. Would love if you could make a follow up video to this, showing each item all cleaned and up close! I hope you go back to this property some day soon? Considering how many neat things you came across after it had already been detected multiple times, I should think there’s probably still a lot more to there to discover!

That was indeed a wealthy family with all of the beautiful items that you saved from the dirt. Silver and gold plated pieces, even the spigot 👍 It's great that the buckle had a patent date on it, which helps verify the date of when the family lived there. Thank you again for your phenomenal efforts to give us another great video ☺

I've definitely noticed more reckless people getting into metal detecting in the last 10 years, who don't care about history, don't care about the people whose stuff they're digging, and they saw a video or two of 'AMAZING TREASURE FOUND' on KZbin, and decided to get a detector and hunt. They leave their holes unfilled as well, which drives me nuts. I haul 100% of what I find out of the hunt site, and dispose of what needs to be disposed of responsibly. Brad is one of the good guys though, and whether he finds cool stuff or not, it's about the adventure and the history.
@ryanjourney96074 жыл бұрын
muchomusiclibre I’ve seen it quite a bit lately. Not sure if it is because of COVID and people are home bored, so they pick up a detector. Like you said it seems to mostly be people hoping to get rich. Also lots of them begging for sites to detect. I just tell them that research is all part of the fun.

I remember my grandparents hanging old pictures and photo frames from a picture / dado rail, in the front room of their house, using very thin chains like the one you found. And I definitely think that the 'rivets' on a leather strip, were 'buttons' from a childs or a small womens boot, requiring a small hook to fasten.

I believe that the decorative piece that was folded over was a "Norwegian Frog". They are typically used on sweaters and jackets. You sew them on like a button (the four little holes). The folded over portion is probably the loop, there will be a matching one with a hook.

I think that button with "the scene" may be a classic case of Pareidolia. When the brain perceives shapes or objects as having a human or animal form or face, similar to the leaves in the bottom center of the screen at 9:10 they looks like a skull or screaming face. I think the "man" in the button may have been a piece of wire wrapped around a pin, maybe to hold it onto that ornamental piece you found with the glob of iron on it? Definitely some sweet finds either way, the land without a doubt had a wealthy past! Keep up the good work! Your vids are one of the things I look forward to most about fridays!

Around 17:30....I think that strip is maybe part of a "shoe-boot" ....you would criss-cross the shoe lace up the boot (a lady's boot", and then tie at the top....Even in the 1950's I remember having leather boots that laced up with those round, opened buttons...there are no lace holes..just the round "hooks" to feed the laces around. (LOL...yeah....I'm 71 but I am sure that they used these kinds of lacing hooks in the 1800's as well )

Some stunning finds on this episode, I love the buckle/adornment it must have been something special to see in it's day. I know this will sound silly but the blue Vicks jar, could it be a weird out there sign that your GrandFather approves of you finally wearing what he said worked ??? I know it's a crazy thought but I'm a big believer that things are meant to happen at certain times. I just found your YT channel and haven't been able to stop watching! I live in northern Vermont and started doing metal detecting briefly before I had kids, and tried it at the location of a house that burned down in the early 40's, found a few interesting items but nothing really cool. I always wanted to do what you do and get in the woods around stone walls and old foundations where there used to be farm land a very long time ago I found some really good places while hunting and even found cool treasures just sitting on top of the ground I can only imagine what's under the surface

It is on both sides you pull the shoelace around at the end you make a bow. Little bit difficult to explain in English. My mountain shoes had such a closure .I am from 1946. The glas blue pot ,i recognise immediately as Vicks, we put the ointment below our nose when we had a cold .it was to make your nose and head brighter .i think there was eucalyptus in it .I am from holland
