That was awesome. I love lights, I love history and I Love Trains, so those old train signals are right up my alley, very nice to see them included in a railfan video like that. As always, you do really good work. The different camera angles, the transitions, the commentary, just perfect.

Thanks Rich, glad you enjoyed! These lights are so cool to see in action. To think of the stories they could tell.

there are tons of searchlight signals near my area, my favorite one is a pair of searchlights on a CPKC subdivison in Ontario!

Nice catches Travis, the searchlight signals bring back memories of our time living in California. You're right though, not too many left now (unless you're modeling N scale and that's all they have!). Thanks for sharing - Steve

Thanks Steve. I do love these old signals. I remember seeing them all over the Cajon Sub as a kid. I miss them very much. I'll be sad when these are replaced.

@@TrainTrackTrav yep, like you said. Not too many left now. You’re video will always be there to reminisce of them. Thanks for sharing. - Steve

Hey Trav nice video, like the shot you had around 9:00 of the double stack going through the crossovers. It’ll be fun to see this place in person next month. Keep up the good work. Ron// 👍😊

Can't go wrong with searchlights. I need to try and document some more older signals. Enjoyed the video!

Agreed! Any thing with moving parts inside is always cool to see. As I said, it's always good to document the older aspects of railroading while we still have them. Thanks for watching!

Nice video on the Riverside searchlights, but at 11:50 that train isn’t a loaded coal, it’s a loaded iron ore train still headed for export out of Long Beach

Yes sir, it's on the list. Old signals, a junction, and a Metrolink station. Everything one could want!

In our house I have two lighted search light signaheads. Union Switch & Signal, General Railway Signal. No power to the coil which moves the color palette (forget what it is called athis moment) aligns the red glass filter (colorelle?) in the light beam by gravity and also a spring, I believe. So no power is FAIL SAFE to RED. +/- shifts the green glass filter into the light beam. -/+ moves the palette so the yellow glass filter is in the light beam. Why such complication requiring precision components? Why not simply red, yellow and green lamps *[:]* ? Thank you.

I looked this up online, because while driving in Riverside, I saw these signals, and I was like "are those searchlights?" Thanks for the video. Would you be interested in railfanning together? Also, do you think a 50mm lens would work well capturing these, or do you need a zoom? Keep up the good work!

I don't like all these modern LED train signals, crossing signals and electronic bells being put up everywhere. Those are no fun at all.
@TrainTrackTrav Жыл бұрын
I agree! The older stuff had animation and yet was so simple. Yet in this day and age, the railroads are on a mission to eliminate as many moving parts as possible. The very sad state of progress.
