I've been fighting to pull my Unimog set from my unholy chimera of unsorted lego and I decided to watch your original review video. While I don't think that 2011 video was bad, it was immediately apparent that the production value have been steadily improving for the past decade. Some of the shots in new videos look like they could be proper Lego Group store content.

The idea went from a pair of brothers living a Richard Proenneke like lifestyle out in the woods in a cabin they built for themselves, to a bunch of yuppies from the city using it as a their weekend retreat/cabin in Vermont kind of a set. I wouldn’t have minded the size reduction and simplification of a lot of parts of the set, if they had just stayed true to the original ideas story behind the set.

I love this set. The studs on the floor make the house look cramped and small. I covered them with tiles and it looks more spacious now.

Pretty much similar feelings with this set, especially the modest size of it for the rather high price; it's a nice looking set but it's so relatively small next to the many past and current sets that are drastically larger. Like the retired Pirates of Barracuda Bay which didn't cost much more and the City of Lanterns from Monkie Kid which retails for a lot less in some countries than this A-Frame Cabin by 25%. And this is also a problem in the recent Creator Expert/Icons cars and a lot of 18+ sets in general like the Question Mark Block, Mighty Bowser, Atari and even other Ideas sets like BTS Dynamite, Globe, Typewriter and of course the Table Football. And some of them have their own issues of being a lot more costly than the things they're based on, which is another discussion for another time...

Interesting! Is it really that bad as far as playability is concerned? I thought that a big house, 4 minifigs and a bunch of props would do better in that department. House too cramped and not much to do outside, is that the issue?

While it looks good and is very cosy, I feel like the whole point of Lego Ideas it that it’s a fan project made into a mass-produced set. The whole concept of take the original idea and change it so much that it barely resembles the original is a bit pointless.

I generally don't like this set because of how it was promoted on the ideas platform with a prototype using illegal building techniques. Most of its charm came from those unevenly attached elements and it could suggest that it's something that ideas team could implement with some new brick types, but the final model came out flattened from such detailing. And yet again, whenever you try to submit something that is going towards a new type or colour of brick being available, using bricks improperly, your submission gets axed, but here is example of cheating the system and winning.

Interesting, you completely ommited the fact that the minifigs are all 100% interchangeable - all the hair and clothes pieces can be used on any figure equally, so there's a lot of possible combinations.
