The 1993 Spring/Summer catalog was the last full catalog that Sears published. You have kind of a cool piece of retail history there. I just recently picked up a copy of it at an antique shop.

You know, I was totally expecting some holiday content from you guys but not this. Awesome and thanks. This is what I wanted simply because I was born in 1977 and when it comes to video game and "retro" feels, we know what's legit.

My mom worked for Sears during this time. So my entire Christmas wish list was based on these catalogs. I have some very fond memories of this time. I hope you're able to find more of these, and do another video.

I'd love to see more videos about that kind of magazines and listen to the stories about your childhood. You really looked deep inside your heart and showed a good side - until the game chasing begins that is. And that girl on the front cover is just gorgeous!

Great video! Growing up in the 80's, I always looked forward to getting those wishbooks and they'd usually show up in the mailbox about 2-3 months before Christmas. My siblings and I would spend hours going through them, looking at all the new toys and games. Good memories. Merry Christmas to you all!

If you want the Sears Wish Books and JC. Penney catalogs that had the most toys and video games you have to get the Christmas editions and not just the fall/winter catalogs . There is website that has lots of them with every page scanned . I believe they came out around August every year . For my older sister , 2 older brothers and me it was a race to the mailbox everyday to see if they came and we would fight for time with the wish books . We also had to circle what we wanted and put our initial next to the circle . Great times . Thanks for the memories .

I love these catalogs. They always bring back so many memories. I remember my Mom having to go to the top floor of JC Pennys to place orders from the catalog. There was a little office area, which almost looked like they were bank tellers, and thats where you would place the order. I also remember going to Sears and waiting for the stuff we had ordered to come down the little conveyor belt system they had. Either Sears or Pennys had the coolest fish tank glass coffee table thing, it was awesome and I always wanted to get it . I love how sometimes they would have the toys displayed in the weirdest way, with the action figures on the wrong play sets. And some of those game descriptions...I think it was on the AVGN when he looked at one of these catalogs and it said "get crystals to defeat warlords" as the description for Zelda NES

Your description of Xmas growing up exactly matches mine; I was the oldest on both sides and I have only one little sister. My dad worked really hard all through the 80's. I only had a few cousins and our parents and grandparents showered us with gifts. It actually continues to this literal day. Thank you so much for making this Billy, at the end of all the celebration and remembrances and chaos, this was a great way to reflect on why Christmas is and has been such an important time for me. The little things, the surprises, and the people you share them with. Happy holidays a few hours too late, and a happy new year to everyone.

those aren't wishbooks, those were the summer and fall editions. big difference bc there were more toys in the Christmas wishbooks. I own editions from 82,83,85,87,90 and 92 :)

I'm guessing the reason for the lack of Super Nintendo stuff in that '91 catalog was probably because it went to print before Nintendo was willing to divulge any info to Sears and/or Sega.

Hmm, the first thing I thought when I saw that magazine is what I would have used it back in the day. I am glad I am not the only one lol. We didn't have a Sears or anything like that, but we did have plenty of TV magazines with plenty of interviews. Also some similar catalogs but for women's clothing. Good times. I have a total of 3 memories of my parents buying me a Christmas gift. Two of which they didn't actual pay for it and the third it was a 1 dollar (or whatever) keychain. Ah, douches. Still, it's always nice to know that others had parents who actually wanted to buy gifts for their kids. Thank you for sharing your stories, I like them. Now, the most important question is, what's the full name of that former "gf" of yours.
