Just on the northern edge of Phoenix, lies the ruins at Sears-Kay which are believed to date back to 1050 AD. Within the grounds lies the remains of about 40 rooms used by the Hohokam as a fortified village.
Hello again! We're back in Arizona and exploring Hohokam ruins located just outside Phoenix, AZ in the Tonto National Forest.
The Hohokam culture was located in the present-day US state of Arizona as well as Sonora, Mexico. Much of the Phoenix canal network used for supplying water to the city follows the original irrigation network created by the Hohokam.
The ruins at Sears-Kay are believed to date back to 1050 AD. Within the grounds lies the remains of about 40 rooms used by the Hohokam as a fortified village.
There are no fees for the park, space for 8 vehicles, and 3 picnic tables with grills and trash bins. The park offers vault toilets but no water fountains so please remember to bring water during warmer weather.

It’s so fun to start at the beginning and see your back catalog. From the very start, your love of history, and deep respect for these heritage sites sets such a good example for leaving a gentle footprint on our planet.

Rounded was earlier. Rounded walls are stronger & hold up better to winds. Gotta say so many channels have changed for the worse over time & it's so good to hear & see you haven't changed much & that's Great. Your commentary is very informative & still Trying to get people to Leave things Better than when they got there & Reminding people to Prepare.

Based on another comment, I imagine that there were artifacts as many decades ago the ground seemed to have been dug up. As for spiritual beliefs.... not really sure. 🙁

This is very interesting... thank you~ It looks beautiful... Is this near Mesa/Gold Canyon? Where did they get the water to survive out there do you know?

This is located in the Cave Creek/Carefree area. Not too sure about water in that area but since it lies at the foothills of mountains it is possible they relied on runoff of some sort. We recently visited Walnut Canyon and they would store water in pottery vessels so I imagine something similar might have been likely at Sears-Kay.
