Love going to Seaside. The boardwalk still has the feeling it had when I was a child in the fifties.

I have to agree with V L, your voice in narrating is soothing there's no need for the music to be so loud. The content and historical facts you present are great. My wife and I are finding out a lot about our beloved New Jersey shore. Very informative. Thanks!

Thanks Kenn! There's tons to learn about the Jersey Shore. I wish I could separate my voice from the music right in KZbin and adjust the music down. But I would likely have to edit the audio with separate software. When I get a chance I'll give it a try. Enjoy the shore this summer!

Seaside Heights was my go-to shore place in the '60s. 80 mile trip from Sussex County. I remember the wild mouse. It looked like a tame kiddie ride, but it would hurl you right to the edge, where you thought you were gonna fly off into the ocean, then make a right angle turn. Made love under the boardwalk. Sunburned, I sat at the Chatterbox stage-side bar and watched The Young Rascals from mid-afternoon 'til 9:30.

Those are some awesome memories! My family went to Seaside in the 60s too...from Morris County. I remember the Wild Mouse and Himalaya and when I was real small I remember winning a goldfish in a bowl. That is so cool that you saw The Young Rascals at the Chatterbox!

Well done It’s funny I grew up calling that coaster the wild mouse….always thought I remembered the original but I couldn’t have! Mandela affect LOL

Thanks Cathy! That's funny! 😄 From what I understand there were 2 Wild Mouses in Seaside. One on Funtown Pier from 1957-1960. And one on Casino Pier from 1958-1965. It gets confusing. 😋🙃 I may have ridden the Casino Pier one when I was really young.

Interesting videos. I live in Pt Pleasant. Thanks for the content. Helpful tip, music is too loud.

Thanks! I know, I received a lot of comments about that. I'm almost done with a new re-edited version of the entire movie. So, if you want, check out the new Seaside and Point Pleasant chapters in that. It should be out next week.

Many people mistakenly think or refer to the coaster that went into the water as the “Jet Star” after Sandy destroyed the end of Casino Pier in 2012. That coaster was actually called the “Star Jet” (2002 - 2012) a completely different ride from the real Jet Star that operated at the same location from 1970 to 2000.
@historyofthejerseyshore3 жыл бұрын
Supposedly Casino Pier misidentified it on it's own website following Sandy.
@bobwigg7613 жыл бұрын
@@historyofthejerseyshore Yes, there are other errors on that website. They have the year as 1969, when the Jet Star first operated, but it was actually 1970. Prior to this, there was a coaster called “Hell’s Angels”. Funtown Pier also had a Jet Star in the late 70s, but the sign read “Jet Set”.

The music should be a little lower. But otherwise very enjoyable.

This is a great KZbin series, but the music volume was a little too loud on this episode. Sometimes the background music is more like the foreground music which makes it a bit hard to hear the narration.

Thanks Living Deadman! But I know what you mean. I'm in the process of redoing the videos. The revised north to south videos should be coming out next week. I don't know what I was thinking. 🙄

Music is supposed to serve as a bed for narration and not compete with it. Otherwise, a nicely done piece of work.

Thanks! I brought the music down in every chapter when I incorporated them into the complete documentary. But still maybe not enough.

Seaside Park has too much under tow fo😮.me to swim. But I always enjoyed the rides, and fishing with my Grandpa and his friends Tuck and Leon Stevenson. They also rented rowboats to fish in the bay.

Great memories! The undertow is scary. The bay is much calmer.

Thanks Trudy! A few other people have commented about the music too. I didn't want to take it down and repost it, but I did lower the music volume when I put everything together for the full documentary. Seaside is at 2:56:19 of that. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3LPYWeteK12qK8

Your facts are all over the place. WRONG AGAIN: The Star Jet coaster was lost in Sandy. The Jet Star was a Casino Pier icon from the 1970’s through mid 80’s. It was removed and replaced by the Star Jet Coaster. Seaside will never be what it was until Sandy ruined everything.
@historyofthejerseyshore3 жыл бұрын
It's a common mistake. Casino Pier misidentified it on its own website following Sandy. Sorry it got you so upset.

WRONG!!!!! The original sky ride travelled the length of Casino Pier to the end of the carousel building, turned around and came back until 1982. It never went along the beach. The existing sky ride opened about 1983. It travels North from Casino Pier to the end of the boardwalk, and back. Get your facts straight.
@historyofthejerseyshore3 жыл бұрын
The first one went over the pier. There's a picture of it in the video. I could have said it went over the pier then switched to alongside the boardwalk but decisions have to be made on how much time to spend on one ride. I wanted to emphasize the carousels. There was also a Sky Ride monorail at Funtown in the 60s.
