I grew up and played baseball with Brandon's older brother Shawn when we were in grade school. Brandon was always with him so we were always playing wiffle ball or football in the neighborhood. I remember a time when we were 10 maybe 11 years old playing ball at a friends house and Brandon got hit with a wiffle ball in the face running to first base. He cried and ran inside to tell his pops we hit him on purpose. (mind you we were all kids) His dad came out, took his sons side and from there the fun was over and we all had to go home. Not much of a story to most but its so vivid to me because looking back remembering his father have his sons side in even the smallest of things would end up being murdered by the last person he would've ever thought.

All I could think about the whole time was how the psyche unit gave him mood stabilizers and anti depressants, then sent him on his way with a bus ticket. I for one have been on anti depressants and it doesn't matter which physician I discuss the medication with, they all say the exact same thing, " it can take weeks before I see any results from the medication" So then I'm stuck wondering why they would send him on his way like, he's good.
@maxxmarino6500 Жыл бұрын
The mood stabilizers take no time at all to kick in, I was on trileptal and depakote, they're both originally meant for seizures (anti-convulsants) and work by limits sodium channels or some shit like that in the brain, whereas SSRIs and other types of antidepressants are reuptake inhibitors meaning it takes a while for the brain to create and release more of these neurons. Anti-convulsants just work by almost an opposite effect of limiting something that is already in abundance so therefore they will work immediately and the effect is usually a decrease in energy leading to less excitement and anger. Really just an overall emotional numbness in general. You're not happy but your not angry, at the most you might feel slightly depressed but not agitated. I've actually felt much more anxious and angry on antidepressants but then again I never felt they were necessary for me in the first place. Most of my issues were circumstantial and I grew out of it as I entered adulthood and gained independence

This is why I speak out against my blood family. They were highly abusive, my father violent and caused me permanent nerve damage that’s left me mostly bedridden, my mother psychologically abusive and made me be her carer and my brothers carer because she didn’t want to parent, and massively enabled my brothers abuse towards me, whether physical or emotional. My brother sent me to the hospital a few times because he would grab my hair and smash my head into the wall, knowing I wouldn’t hit him back. I couldn’t, if I dared lift my hands to protect myself then my mother would scream at me for days about it, but would happily ignore my brother knocking me out and smashing my face into a wall. Unsurprisingly I have cPTSD and PTSD. My mother was so concerned with her looking good and my brother looking good that she was completely fine with ignoring all the abuse, which is extra fucked because she’s had an abusive childhood and left my abusive father who was physically violent and sexually violent towards her. She was more concerned about their image than my safety, and she didn’t want any help of any kind because she just didn’t care enough about me, she constantly rejected help and demanded I care for my brother because she was “busy” (shagging random men, going out for drinks, meeting her ex, literally anything except parent). I broke at 16 and ended up going off the rails, had an alcohol dependence where I very nearly became an alcoholic at fucking 16, and got into lots of trouble with police Scotland. They understood something was wrong but my mother spent more time trying to make herself look good than accept police Scotland’s assistance where they wanted to contact a charity on her behalf that helps with troublesome children. They got in touch with the charity for me because they realised she just didn’t actually care about my safety and only cared that she looked good. So I speak out against them all the time, maybe bringing light on her constant behaviour will help others in some way, or help them recognise the type of narcissistic behaviour that enables abusers, but i got permanent disabilities from my shitty blood family so fuck it, imma speak out against them

this is a joke right, if a trained police dog is locked onto your thigh, and you punch the dog in the head, THAT IS 100% SELF DEFENCE, its not like the dog was sitting somewhere and he walked up and started punching it in the head, it had viciously bit his heels and his inner thigh, so because its a police dog your just supposed to take a vicious attack like that and not defend yourself hey? what a joke

Astariol oh man, where is he "super like" button! What is it with Americans trying to keep their athletes safe regardless of their horrible behaviour? Is being able to swim or hit a ball that important lol? I'm Australian by the way and I'm saying this out of sympathy for normal Americans, not to attack normal Americans. I hope you understand 😊

If every kid got that consequence for shitty behaviour the average lifespan of humans would drop back to 40years. My ex was like this dropkick. He just got parole and is in behaviour change therapy. Too many parents these days refuse to hold their kids accountable for their shitty behaviour and praise them for the wrong things. We have babies and raise them until they are children. Once they're semi independent, we HAVE children. At that stage we are raising adults. This isn't Neverland god dang it 😤
@mistressofstones3 жыл бұрын
Shell O'D what I really don't understand is that hitting a ball might be fun to watch but its not really that valuable. I mean if he had almost completed creating a drug that would cure all cancer then maybe it makes sense.... I agree tho, kids throughout life should be incrementally introduced to the consequences of their actions, so that by the time they are mid teens they know without a shadow of a doubt that of they attack anyone they're going to face serious consequences.

@@petejames1326 I see your point, and would make sense with any other dogs ... However, police dogs, or any other dogs belonging to a recognised agency, are regarded as an officer of that agency, inclusive of military branches. In fact, in most cases, said dog is one rank above their handler; that means any unreasonable force by the handler on their dog would, and is, considered assault on a senior officer. In law enforcement, a suspect attacking a dog of a law enforcement agency would be arrested on suspicion of assaulting a LEO; human or canine, there is no distinction made. Further, from other comments made, attacking, and killing, a canine office, is, in most States of the US murder of LEO in First Degree ... An acquaintance of mine is a Correctional Officer, but has never said where. We talked about this kind of thing, and whilst most prisoners have a take it, or leave it, approach to human police officers, suffice to say killing a canine officer is many steps too far, especially when only the most heinous of murderers think about killing animals out of spite. Or, it other words, even amongst hardened criminals, killing a dog, out of spite, often means risking getting John Wick-ed by other inmates; there are lines you simply don't cross, and killing a dog ... well ...

Me too...i was so anxious to hear the outcome, i kept thinking that Dex had died from the body slam. The animal in this case was Brandon Martin, not Dex. I felt the officer was having a hard time giving the recollection of events...😔💔 Heartbreaking. He attacks his own disabled father for him being mixed-race, and preventing him from playing baseball? And the technician?! What did he do? His mother, who til the last minute wanted to prevent his baseball career to be tainted? He did that himself by being a spoiled, fuck*ng bastard!

Well it's probably how humans are kinda desensitized to it I think (?) Hard to say but imagine if we became deeply angry and sad everytime we heard of a human dying. It happens a lot and gets talked about constantly, so we wouldn't function properly. But cats and dogs for example (who appear cute due to showing similarities to babies/infants which we are designed to find cute) are not seen being beaten and harmed so often so due to our connection with them it just kinda hurts more idk this is long
