HOW THE HELL IS HESTER STILL ABLE TO DO THIS? Honestly, the Institute has the worst oversight of any dark dystopian organization ever. How does no one say "hey, maybe we should have the superiors of the people that record the cassettes listen to them before we give them to the patients. you know, just to make sure they're good and they work for the patient"? No? Anyone? Not even after the patient escaped and seemed to know things she wasn't supposed to know???

I have a theory about this. Oleta was probably caught early, meaning that this seemed like a simple escape attempt, without any proof of external help. The only suspicious element is that Oleta didn't ask to leave. We don't know how long Esther has worked here or how many patients there are, nor do we know if each patient gets personalized cassettes. If they don't, the overseers must assume that Esther, with her long-standing good record, has simply recorded the standard text many times. The institute might test a few cassettes, but they can't possibly listen to each and every one of them, which is probably why Esther only asked Oleta to destroy one cassette, the sixth one: only a handful of cassette constitute the sample which gets tested, she knows which ones, and thus she is able to escape oversight. If everyone gets a personalized cassette, it is impossible for the overseers to listen to every single one of them (that would be extremely time-consuming) and they need to trust Esther, the expert, on their content.

Does anyone else actually act out what the narrator tells you? I do, and feels very relaxing. Though, I was caught off guard for a sec when she mentions a scar on the stomach. XD I got a old scar from surgery as a kid and I was like WTF? Is the secret police listening with me listening to this podcast? Am I in night vale? But, then she mentioned the scar on my chin, and I was like, oh, it's just kinda messing with me a lil. But, It's still awesome and relaxing. Can't wait for more.

What the living hell happened to my bomb ass homie hester?!?! I am very hurt rn , did not expect this pain. Came out to learn relaxing and I am Honestly feeling attacked!!!! Edit: I think I am ok , I think this new wwooommman may be hester , still just as attacked and I'm just as wounded. It's cassette 1 of the extensive studies lab prep, which they say has the goal of keeping you alert as apposed to the first 6, which were for relaxation. It is the start of a new part of the cassette program, which is why the numbers started over.
