I wonder why all of the museums keep asking Roimata Mangakāhia alone to record the tapes. Weren't there more people who were friends with the missing artist and knew her quite well?

Maybe she's volunteering, maybe she's trying to communicate with Atieno and assumes wherever in the world she might be, Attieno might be interested in exhibitions of her art.

Or she's doing everything in her power to gain the attention she has been deprived for so many years.

That sounds like too much effort for such a limited and petty reward. I think Atieno is in some sort of underground revolutionary movement and either Mangakāhia wants in. Or is trying to challenge the views of normal people of the current society. Or just wants to get in touch with Atieno, she's been calling her out on several "plagiarism" maybe to get a rise out of her. Another theory i've been thinking about is that Atieno is the girl that narrates the relaxation cassettes from the first season and this girl she met in a conditioning house as a teen is the girl she helps break free in the first season.

Oooh, I like the both theories. I think you may be onto something. The woman from season one mentioned studying art before coming to work at the correction facility and this season we learned that existence of such facilities is denied by the powers in charge. Perhaps, this season was recorded shortly before Atieno was recruited? However, there is one thing that doesn't add up. The woman from the first season seemed to be much younger. She was a part of the generation that was made to forget everything before they were 10. Meanwhile Atieno was born when families were still a thing and wasn't made to forget.
