She quietly learns news about me, maybe she asks little questions to find out information about my life. Subtly: quietly or sneakily Keeps tabs on me: finds out news or information Hope that helps ☺️

Печально,что красивий английский язик так уродуется. Нужно забить класический и начать в школах учить слєнг и как говорят на улице неграмотние люди.😢

In our experience, almost all languages have a "pure or academic" version, (for example 'Pure Arabic' and 'High German') and a "real-life" version that is used in reality. Our classes here are trying to show people the "real-life" version to help them manage conversations with native-speakers who have no experience or desire to slow down and simplify their language for others. (This situation is unfortunately very common). In most cases, when students are talking about "original, beautiful" English, they are talking about 1 or 2 things: 1.) Oration. Oration is the skill of speaking in an articulate (even verbose) manner, often to a large group of people. Nowadays you see this from politicians and in TEDTalks. However, this skill hasn't been practised since around the 1960s, and ordinary people would never talk this way in private, casual conversations. This does not mean they are using slang, rather that English speakers (or speakers of any language) do not walk around *orating* at the bus driver or everyone they meet. 2.) Received Pronunciation. This is often promoted as "the British accent". It is the pronunciation you hear from the Royal Family, many British actors and in English textbooks. In reality though, only a small percentage of people in the UK speak like this, and it is associated with the south of England and often to an exclusive (and privately-educated) upper-class section of society. The real English-speaking world has a huge range of different accents and dialects, which is why sometimes non-native students are shocked and disheartened when they arrive in an English speaking country and discover that they cannot understand anyone! Again, these different accents and blended sounded are not slang, they are a logical and physically efficient way to say groups of words quickly. These videos aim to help that specific goal, by offering examples of these blended sounds and patterns. In summary, all languages are much much richer than they are presented in media and textbooks only, and we hope our videos are a reflection of "real-life" English and a much more practical study tool. One of the reasons we started this channel was to give ESL students exactly this kind of material.
