I think he was exaggerating a bit, but it’s more of the point of the skill floor being too high and whenever skill floor and ceiling are too close you start to lose sight of what skill actually is.

Dash triple headshot melee does 252 damage. Cree has 275. Cree will always be basically in the middle of his team at all times meaning he will likely always be in LOS of his team supports and other team mates. One heal and I can't melee him again, he will roll away creating enough distance that I won't be able to land 3 shuriken's, and if I do, he will get damage resist. The hero is numerically invincible to Genji unless he is the worst player on planet earth. If I keep my distance, he pokes me down with 70 damage hitscan shots. If I go near him, I get hindered and he just kills me because he will create distance by walking away, waiting out my deflect and dash, once I dash back on him, he rolls (Will be in the middle of his team so it's likely a 2v1 at best) and spams me down with 70 damage hitscan bullets. So yes, Genji cannot physically touch McCree unless the McCree player is literally braindead and is SO FAR out of position that Kiriko can't TP to him, Moira can't fade to him, Bap can't lamp or heal him, and Larry can't airburst to him. You judge so quickly and didn't even bother doing basic math or even having the most basic understanding of positioning. If a plat McCree has such a huge advantage against me on Genji, Imagine how unkillable a top 500 one is.

Passive value being added everywhere, support designs that do everything ever since brig because brig set a new standard for support which causes the devs to make the old support designs super top heavy, support designs that also are just existing dps designs with heals slapped on making them over kitted while boring to play, removal of 1 tank without actually fixing tanks like zarya who now is a self bubble bot or rein who now just shields until hes able to swing once an hour, oh and they reworked all the counterplay out of like 3 heros, hog, sombra and pharah 😂 prob missed alot but I think that's enough to have ruined the game on its own.

Widow might be one of the most miserable characters to go against. It's wild how widow can easily control a game by simply existing she doesn't even have to be good to hold any kind of pressure her existence alone forces everyone on the enemy team to drastically change their playstyle becsuse of one hero. Tank is fucked because they're already limited as is and HAS to stay with the team or else they get picked off. Widow counters her own counters which is crazy to think about and even if as a dps you do everything right against her she has a free high mobility option and support bails her out so all your effort means nothing. Widow main here since 2019. Your points against her ARE VALID, but these points fluctuate MASSIVELY across all ranks. The only way Widow will not be a strong pick, is if Other characters are buffed or nerf to require a Meta that doesn't need her. She walks basically a balancing tight rope. 1 Buff, she's hard Meta. One Nerf, Widow mains riot and she's useless. The Reason she's always been so strong is the Format. Widow wasn't made with 5v5 in mind, she was meant to be a huge presence, that a second tank like Winston or D. VA pressures out to force a reposition. It's like Mauga for the opposite reason. People are mad when Mauga is meta, because he's the perfect 5v5 Tank in an originally 6v6 centered game. Mauga doesn't do anything wrong, sure the Gameplay loop is extremely simple, but that's because tanks in a 5v5 format are just that. Much Simpler. Widow will always be strong until the Devs fix characters that normally pressure her out. Widow still requires obsurd amounts of skill. Widow shooting Sombra, Lucio, or any high mobility character is still insanely hard to do. Keep in mind, Overwatch isn't just in PC, it's on Console too, where Widow becomes even harder to play, even with Aim Assist. Buffs to tanks like Sigma, Winston, or Reinhardt would help promote more shield play, and Widow looses her effectiveness. DPS like Genji and Sombra are the ones to take care of her, though it's more plan of attack then actual buff. If a Genji or Sombra wants you dead as Widow, you're dead, only thing saving you is Weaver or Kiriko, and even then they are saving their most important abilities for tanks and high consistent damage characters, and you'll be left in the dust.

It’s really easy to prevent her from playing the game with genji. Just engage without your dash if possible, she’s extra squishy and at point blank range you should be able to kill her in seconds. Use deflect to freely close the distance if you don’t have dash.

Rein main here, I've legitimately dropped the game for this reason. I love tank as a role but Blizzard have made it braindead. I miss having a tank buddy and coming up with insane plays together. I'd rather be the glass cannon in OW1 that relies on teamwork than the rock paper sissor giga-tank that everyone flames/blames for any team fight

Honsetly Overwatch 2 kinda feels like Release Brig vs Tracer matchup but for 80% of the cast where you just inherently just get turned off if someone picks a certain counter. I wish this game had way less 9:1 matchups and far more 6:4 or 7:3 matchups that felt far more nuanced and dynamic. Haven't played ow2 anywhere near as much as ow1. It's feels like ow1 if a toddler made a drawing to describe it to a blind person and then the blind person having to call a deaf person to describe it to them. Got top 500 most seasons I decided to push for it (almost every season from 22-33) but haven't had a single season of ow2 where I even had that though pop up in my mind. This game is not casual friendly. I would not recommend this game to my friends new to this game. You can’t play any hero without being counter swapped all the time , forcing you to try to learn more heroes at the same time instead of focusing on just one. At least in overwatch 1, I could recommend because in that game you can stick to any character and still put work in. Had a friend new to ow1 and he started with dva. Even if he was new, all you need is to stick together and we’ll be good. It didn’t matter if they had Zarya, because dva against Zarya wasn’t as disadvantageous compared to what we have now. He quit ow2 because now every time he went dva, they go full counters making the experience so much worse

This issue is that due to both the hero design and S9 changes interactions are becoming more guaranteed. Higher HP, more consistent bullets, and passives all make interactions even harder to overcome as the play, so soft counters become hard counters and hard counters become nearly impossible to overcome. Think of how you have only a small window of time to secure an elimination before the enemy gets to cover, uses an ability, or goes behind a shield, you have time to shoot 2 shots, well before many DPS (and tanks/supports) could 2 shot targets, but now they take 3 and are more consistent. So before, you could land the 2 hits say 50% of the time and get that elim, but now you will hit the target with 2 shots about 75% but it will no longer kill, meaning players have to misplay (being caught in the open/out of position) even more egregiously for you to get that elim. Every change has been to make it harder for inexperienced players to screw up, but inadvertently that also makes it harder to the individual to be able to clutch or have “Overwatch moments” because the interactions are decided on the hero select screen.

I genuinely think Genji is THE worst hero in the game. Deals ZERO fucking damage, has no sustain whatsoever, super easy to hit because his hitbox is a literal circle and Blade is so fucking trash it gives me aids whenever I try to get value with it. You just die INSTANTLY whenever you press Q. Pharah and Sym being good now leads to more Genji counterpicking too. Let me cook for a moment I think they keep support as the strongest role because support players buy the most skins. (speculation but in my experience true) Everybody knew Mauga was getting killed in the patch, hes super unfun and unhealthy for the game. Whats that? He didnt get nerfed? And he got a super cool new skin to buy? Bronze - Gold players barely know the meta, they hardly know whos strong, they have fun on Mauga, they do damage and get kills. They see a cool skin and want it because thats the hero they like. I also think theyve dumbed down the game to favour console players - Again, let me cook. Console has by far the largest playerbass in gaming, OW going f2p has most probably shot the console playerbass over pc. Console is full of casual gamers, children etc. And look at the new heroes, theyre (mostly) all super forgiving, low skill heroes . Lifeweaver aims for you, pylon aims for you, Mauga is as braindead as it gets, Kiriko is very forgiving, Rams punch hitbox on console is LAUGHABLE. Projectile is INSANELY hard on console, so lets just leave them in the bin and keep hitscan as the only dps in the game (bar Pharah currently). Even if its not dumbed down for console, it definitely is for the players in bronze - plat, where most players reside. Balancing for high level - pro play has been put on the back burner in favour of the mass majority bad players, skin buyers and console players for money making purposes, which is definitely the right way to go. Theres more i could say. Hitbox changes, counters so obvious my blind, dead nan can see. But you get the point. They want the game to be a casual, child friendly, possibly console based fps game like fortnite.

Got top 60 playing zarya into double shield. Now if someone locks mauga or orisa all of my heroes that im good at being offtanks (since i used to play a bit of tier 3 ow), i cant interact with those heroes and all i can do is hope i can kills their team before they can kill my team. And if i start winning the duel somehow they will probably switch to some rock paper scissors ass hero to win anyways. I used to make zarya work into legit anything but now i sometimes have 0 choices other than swapping. Im probably a part of the saltiest ow community tho, that being the offtanks player that got thanos snapped so maybe im just biased i guess 🙃. Counterswapping and clear flavour of the month tanks caused me to pretty much drop the role entirely.

maybe pylon can have a hp decay like each sec its alive then it decays hp. idk but when i play brawl star which HAS A BUNCH OF FLAWS but spawnable hp decay was pretty good idea. maybe the dev can try it and see. and like some hero are just obsolete like mercy, i hate this character but i do feel sry for it (junkrat), etc. and the ow2 heroes well most of them has such a high skill floor.

Just think about it. You complain about sombra not being able to break the pilon with virus, so thats bad. But see from this pov: pilon is illari's most important ability (besides ults of course) that previously sombra could destroy it across the map with little to no effort. Also, this is a competitive game, of course, the meta characters will have a better chance of winning, but still requires skill to play. Honestly, if you are constantly losing matches, i guarantee you its not always your team's fault. The game is balanced around swapping heroes, if you are not willing to change you should expect to lose. It doesn't matter if you are top 500 or a bronze player.

Double shield was a comp in OW that consisted of pre-rework Orisa who had a shield and fortify AND the ability to poke with her gun. Sigma with a shield, rock, grasp AND high damage AOE poke and it was mixed with Brig, and undivable, chain stunning, booping, super armoured supportwith a shield and high burst AOE healing that was procced for literally just hitting anything with your flail combined with Bap who was a high damage, decent mobility, hitscan, VERY HIGH burst AOE healing and literally invincibility. Essentially, double shield was a comp that consisted of extremely high burst AOE healing, combined with high sustain, damage resistance/reduction abilities, with anti dive, shields and immo just for some extra icing of this cake of dogshit.

As it was, countering double shield without otherwise mirroring WAS STILL POSSIBLE which is his point in the video as to why even Double Shield is better than what we got. Because in double shield, it was still possible to play hard enough and be creative enough to beat it with characters other than the Meta. For example, Monke with rage could dislodge a double shield team choke. So could a surprise junkrat, all becsuse if you did really high tier play with such types, you could book enemies outve of the Immo field, and get instant picks. The Immo field is what really made it broken, since the Immo was what was used to recover the tanks when their damage mitigation sets were on CD or burned thru. But really good players who really wanted to push the limit, could still kill it,if they just tried really hard. And it was rewarding. That's the point. In mid OW1, Bastion was completely useless to some degree but you had top 50p players like Bastion Main that'd make him work regardless. One of the reasons why was because Bastions old ult was his tank mode with a grenade gun. And he could use the gun to rocket jump to places and use technicals as well as get one shots or environment kills with its push back. But with the current ult? It's brain dead and meant for 7 yearOlds. So now that is all gone. That's his point. OW2 has turned into a Low iq type of a game.

Still prefer what we got now to double shield, but mauga + cardiac for all teammates near him is a pretty close contestant. Imo tanks/supports mainly tanks don't get to have any fun in this game, and when you play DPS to have fun, the other roles aren't having fun so they will not impress you, ever. Not saying blame my teammates, saying none of the tanks I see have a reason to try in the game. And I don't really blame them, so there's really nothing to blame but blizzard themselves. So now I'm playing more val and being a madman on yoru neon and kayo.

Also rly hate cassidy. As a DPS that's always hated hanzo and cass, its cool hanzo isn't playable (for me, not for them they dont deserve that lol) but then cass is just hard meta. And they know about his extreme popularity, saw in an interview with a dev and spilo. It's really lame they just want this 2 tapping machine to be what I play or I suffer. Or Pharah I guess, pharah's cool. Except for when 100% of the projectile players now go to pharah, as the only projectile option in the entire game.

never got to play ow 1 but i’m high diamond (peaked masters) but i don’t feel that rewarded knowing there was a harder format previously learning and improving difficult games is fun for me but this game in its current state doesn’t feel very complex kinda the same thing every game which is pretty disappointing. i cant feel accomplished doing this in a easier format i wish 6v6 was still playable so i could get a accurate skill level for myself

In OW1 you can skill expression so if you were good enoth you coud out play your counters and win . Putting time in the game gave you real feed back of i am getting better at the game .Overwatch 2 just removed all counterplay so if you run into somebody that plays your counter you cant do anything against it no matter how good you are . Then we get more and more heros that are designed to have no downsides were there are 0 opertunity to kill them if they make a mistake takeing away control from you to randome 4 teammades to pick the right thing

Never got to try OW 1 myself and I'm actually in the same position as you. Peaked low Masters this season and realized that the game genuinely punishes you for trying to look for complexity. If you're playing Tank you stand on main and eat cooldowns and that's it. That's what you do. You playmake if your team allows it. Your supports are also stuck constantly pumping heals into if you try to make a play, and they can just counter swap and negate that value anyways by playing my counter while having 1/10th the hours I have on my character. What's the point of grinding higher? To hit Top 500 so they can more efficiently and more aggressively try to screw me over? Where's the reward? What's it for? But unfortunately, there's nothing out like Overwatch so I just feel stuck.
