I mean, given what we see in these two clips it seems like Ny is not going to make it out. The idea that Eg then comes and saves her (after after saving her during the S1 finale) I can't say I'm a huge fan of. I'm gonna have to think more about why the writers would want to make this change like one of Ny's core traits I feel is her bravery and being brave often means doing the hard thing vs the easier thing. Staying with dream Lan is the easy thing to do. The brave thing is leaving him and going back out and protecting Eg and Perrin and Mat. Though with her thinking Rand is dead maybe those three are not enough. Well have to just WAFO I guess.

I really hope Egwene doesn't pull Nyneave out of the test. It was such a character moment for Nyneave, showing her resolve and determination to protect the Emunds fielders even if it cost her happiness. Also Nyneave finding her own way out despite "the way back will come but once" was such a Nyneave move. It would be a damn shame if they gave it to Egwene instead.

Did you notice the embroidery on Nynaeve’s sleeves (when Lan is holding her)? To me, they look like spiders, which was the fear she thought about before entering the first arch. In the WoT Series Discord, they said it looks more like Irises. Irises just happen to look like spiders and they represent Wisdom.

I watched season 1 for a second time last week and it was better than the first time since the books weren’t as fresh in my mind. Much felt rushed and strange choices were made, but Season 2 looks much more complete as a product.

I would note that Rand appears to have a cut on his neck when he is choking Moiraine but does not in the scene where Moiraine is staring of screen. If it is the same scene then the staring off screen bit probably comes first.

I like your theory that Egwene helps rescue Nynaeve from the Accepted test. That makes a lot of sense with the different images you showed of Egwene. I think now that Nynaeve never comes out the third time, while the Aes Sedai are there. Egwene sees Liandrin returning the ring they had ready for Nynaeve to the forge. Egwene won't accept that all hope is gone (or maybe just is grieving and wants to see the place where Nynaeve disappeared), breaks into the chamber (or maybe Liandrin lets her in to help gain her trust) and intuits a weave to rescue Nynaeve. Maybe Nynaeve will have been also trying to get out at the same time, or maybe not, maybe she won't be entirely grateful to be reacued and it will increase tension between them. Later if Nynaeve helps reacue Egwene back, from a *situation* in season 2, it adds some symmetry to their arcs.

The unconscious people on horses were a good catch. Forkroot would certainly explain why they're unconscious, and you may be right about that. But if Liandrin did give them forkroot tea and is leading them to Falme, why would Egwene be able to fight the Seanchan with the Power right before being captured? Nynaeve and Elayne could also run just fine in the shot of Egwene fighting a damane. And if forkroot was already known, surely the Aes Sedai would have given it to Logain? Unless it's just a Black Ajah secret weapon at this point. The man with the flaming sword is probably Tomas. Speaking of Tomas, the actor's name is really amusing to me. In my native language (Finnish), his first name Heikko means "weak". His full name therefore sounds like "weak German guy".

I love this Rand and Selene relationship change. It's very simple, doesn't mess with the overall plot and is frankly a more believable outcome than the book. It also sets up so many future scenes to be more impactful (from the end of TGH all the way to AMOL).

Along with so many other commenters, I hope Egwene doesn't steal Nynaeve's valor by saving her and pulling her out of the archways. But, we do know Egwene is strong with earth. And we've seen that 2 of the 3 archways have already broken. So what if the 3rd breaks during Nynaeve's test? And Egwene just channels it back together - which allows Nynaeve to get out, but still makes it Nynaeve's choice? I'd be down for something like that. Egwene gets to be a hero, but not at the expense of Nynaeve. Though it would be Egwene basically building or repairing a ter'angreal.

The sanitarium change I find odd, but Lanfear posing as an inn keeper is one change that is spot on something she would do so I like this change. Also gives me hope she may be hiding in some other places basically right in plain sight.

It has to be Natasha O’Keeffe to play her all the way, Selene and Lanfear, first time I’ve ever disagreed with you in one of your fantastic videos but changing the actor who plays Lanfear will totally put off non book fans. To keep a good show you need continuity, people need to get invested into the character and the actor who plays them. Plus Natasha is 36, she’s perfect for both parts, in my opinion. I also think the fact they’ve clearly upped their relationship from the books is a good idea. I will make it more impactful when Rand finds out who Selene truly is…

I am scared that these first 3 episode will turn off so many people that it will destroy any interest in the show from any other than the die hard fans of the show. The issue with the die hard fans of the show won't be enough to prevent it getting cancelled during the Amazon purge that is happening right now. The show had a huge drop off rate for the first season; I would love to for season 2 to be a major hit, and us get a season 8 or 10 (I know scheduled for 8) but right now shows that under perform are getting the axe and amazon is on a clean up mission. The best scenes in the show are the ones that follow the books; The scenes that I have seen that follow the books look great and are the only reason this show deserves a second chance after episode 8 of the first season.

@@LordMaskin Not sure exactly what you mean by "drop off rate" but the watch through/completion rate of Season 1 was significantly above average for an Amazon original show if I recall correctly (certainly much better than Rings of Power for example). But yeah when they stick to the essence of the books is when they do best imo as well. E.g. Loial meeting Rand in Tar Valon was excellent and pretty much off the page other than being in a different city, as well as Loial being way too short.

He rebuffed all those women throwing themselves at the Lord Dragon! One of the takeaway from TGH was how he did not give in to his lust. Now she wins! Is there anywhere in the 4.4m words where we get any hint that Selene is into no strings? Will prideful woman be running a dive bar? What I hate most of all is how they've destroyed the characters. I didn't hate season one, I was lukewarm but I wanted the show to succeed. No I feel that I'm going to start root for it to be cancelled and that's a real shame. I'm almost 50 and it will never be done again in my lifetime. But I want WoT in all its glory. I feel that we're getting someone's vanity project using names and places and incorporating a few post-it notes. Apologies for being a downer in your comments section

@@robinirie98 Lanfear posed as a morbidly obese peddler. So yes she would lower herself to pose as a lowly innkeeper. Or maybe not. Skinny innkeepers are frowned upon. And how does she win? Lanfear wants him for keeps, not just some sex. That said, I have my own issues with Rand's portrayal and this clip is a part of it. I feel it's very important that Rand is extremely likeable to start off with, because he's going to a place where he is not very likeable (basically the contents of books 8-12). I feel both in season 1 and in this clip he is already too much of a downer and too angsty and not really someone people will want to cheer for and be on his side when he heads down a dark path. And having casual sex with this lady isn't going to help. I don't mind sex in the show at all, as long as it's between characters we love and they love each other, or it just fits the character to have casual sex. With Rand and Selene it's going to make him look like a jerk, I fear.

@@DeadsySedai I accept that. All our heroes are made unlikeable in this show. From the first meeting Min became one of my favourites because she could have a laugh. She was the Ray of sunshine that Rand needed in the instances you mentioned. They managed to make her into a jaded sour faced woman who's had a life of abuse. Not a single one of them is likeable except Lan and Moraine who needs to step back so the stars can emerge. There's a reason why the mentor tends to die so that the hero is not overshadowed. But when we were reading the books, were we rooting for Rand to have sex with Selene? Did we want him to sit and mope some more instead of taking charge of his fate? Did we want to see him helping out in a mental asylum rather than being Shadowkiller? I don't know man

More of a small trash can then a dumpster. There is hope for season 2, I think we will get about 30% of the books in it; sadly the rest will be Rafe's Egwene Fan-Fic. Rings of Power was a full 5 alarm dumpster fire, this is not nearly as bad. There are promising things in season 2, but there are things that just make no sense from a creators perspective unless you are trying to fundementally trying to change the story. I think they will stick with the idea that Lews was just an arrogant man, and the Darkone wasn't really much of a threat.
