Trusting that people will tell me if they have an issue or are upset was a huge part of healing from people pleasing. I try to remind myself people should communicate if something is wrong.

And, for the most part, they will. So yes, you are allowed to breathe and stop worrying about if everyone is upset with you ❤️

me who is a vanlifer but i work 55 hours a week:( i started doing vanlife to save money, pay off debt, and save up for a house. doing vanlife has saved me lots of money and is way more cost effective than paying 1k-2k a month on rent. If i lived in and apartment i would need to work 80+ hours to save the kind of money i’m saving now. i’ve personally never met a vanlifer who doesn’t work or doesn’t have some sort of income. we usually all travel for work with the seasons. i think with the inflation we’re seeing people are starting to do vanlife out of necessity and less bc it’s cool and trendy tbh

I know it can feel silly and like your parenting a toddler, but its more like re-parenting your adult self. Which is kinda cool and badass if ya think about it. It means you've learned and grown and are just trying to work with yourself in a way that is kind and patient. Grown ups need that too. Im also really happy for you that you've got a good new year mantra and that your working on people pleasing stuff! Its really hard to not people please, even though people pleasing is so exauhsting. You guys are such a highlight in my week! Great episode ❤

Thank you for saying this! Having to “re- parent myself” has been a thought of mine that I’ve been ashamed to say out-loud or seek help for because I’m in my late 20’s & my partner doesn’t seem to struggle with that at all- and the way you just rephrased it as “re-parenting your adult self” really put what I was feeling about myself into words that have a much more positive outlook! I just recently came out to my parents as well, and that’s kind of sent me into a hole where I feel stuck, so I’ll really take your words for heart! And it’s reassuring to hear that others have to do the same. Thank you kindly. 🤙🏽🤠

@@lindseyhendrix2405 Im glad this helped you see it from another angle, and Im glad you feel less alone about it. We always think being a "kid at heart" is always about childlike wonder, and it is, but it can also be about having lots of big feelings, or taking time to be patient with that kid part of you. You're doing great, you should definetly feel proud of yourself! 💛

Ahhh I love you guys but I feel like you're misinformed about what hippies originally were! They did NOT start out as rich white people. They started out as diverse groups of activists, usually anti-war, pro-environment, etc. The "dirty hippie" stereotype was used by conservatives like Reagan to discount their movements. Maybe nowadays, people who take on the "hippie aesthetic" are mostly rich white people, but it's not fair to reduce the whole subculture to that. People who culturally appropriate and have weird new-age beliefs aren't embodying what hippies were meant to be. My mom was/is a true hippie - an activist all throughout her 20s-30s, worked for a homeless shelter for years, always with diverse groups of people, non-conformist, etc - and I hate that white people with dreads and linen pants are now what the public thinks of as a hippie.

Reading tip! Speechify is great, the free version is pretty good, it reads whatever is on your device and you can change the voice and speed. The paid version is even nicer. You can have Snoop Dogg read anything to you, it might just be the paid version but they give a free trial for 3 days. I really wish I had it in college.

With the beginning conversation of not finding good people interesting that could be why when companies where making the AI influencers instead of just making a face to sell product they gave them lives and controversies

Question, I know it's good for ratings or something when folks watch the premier, but if I'm watching the premier and I rewind to the beginning is it still good for ratings (or whatever it's called lol)?

I love you guys and say this with absolutely no malice, but it’s frustrating that this podcast has themes that you don’t really start getting into until around the half way mark. Even then it’s sometimes like an after thought or a forced conversation. Catching up at the beginning and getting side tracked with other convos is fine, but it’s a bit misleading to new viewers expecting one thing and getting another. I feel like a lot of viewers would be perfectly happy with your regular convos without a core theme, maybe even prefer it, because you do get into topics outside the theme that are actually really interesting and relevant e.g adhd and relationship stuff. I know there’s probably a lot outside your control/contract obligations, so perhaps this feedback is more directed at your producers rather than yourselves. Sometimes podcasts evolve past what they originally started out as and it’s ok to lean more into that and potentially avoid a sense of frustration or being mislead, however unintentional.
