Due to high water temps after fishing a day we decide to share a quick review into reading side imaging. Showing different structures as well as fish on electronics.

How far do you like to keep your boat off the weeds?
@mayhems10kcasts5 күн бұрын
Loaded question - all depends on how and where the fish are positioned. If your seeing a lot of follows usually you need to slide out a little further but if your not moving fish slide in a hair closer. Generally speaking 25-35 ft from the weed edge allowing the fish to have time to eat it before they get to the boat. Thanks for the question and support.

I would love to see what you have for vegetation settings on the auto chart to record the weeds? I've tried to do it on my unit, but it doesn't consistently mark weeds. Sometimes it will show weeds were there is only thick mud. Or just not accurately show edges???

We've found that you just have to keep playing with the settings until it's accurate. If you want more info reach out to Chase on his facebook account. I don’t use the bird units anymore. Thanks

What scroll speed do you use when casting "sitting still"? I often hear guys say they didnt see the fish boatside but saw it on side imaging, but havent heard an explanation on that specific scenario.

I leave mine on 3 all the time. Chase goes between 3-4. I think the best is to learn your screen and then not change it.

Great stuff. Thanks. Do you have the y splitter with two transducers or just one? Do you find that the motor being down affects your side imaging quality ?
@mayhems10kcasts7 күн бұрын
Only one when positioned right on most 16-22’ boats it isn’t usually necessary to run two. You may need to raise the motor slightly for a clear view. Thanks for the question let me know if you have more.

Absolutely! You can check out our how to videos on how we mount our transducers. We mount in this fashion so your SI reads depth on plane.

U say alot of leeches weeds are junk weeds that don't hold alot of fish. I don't think they have much of cabbage beds anymore. Just more sporadic cabbage now. So when u weedline fish there what are u targeting and catching them out of?
@mayhems10kcasts6 күн бұрын
Junk weeds or not they hold fish. Structure is structure at the end of day. So any weeds are good weeds. Hope that helps answer your question.

@mayhems10kcasts yeh figured that's how ur answer would be. I go up to leech a few times a year. Hard line "junk weed" is what I target and is pretty good for me. Had some other weed beds well marked out and over the past few years got filled in with sporadic junk week and don't hold fish like they used to. When I go in September I do well in shallow sporadic cabbage weeds in 2-5 foot.of water. 15 years ago leech had beautiful cabbage beds

Yea it’s a bummer it has changed a lot. Sounds like you’re dialed in!

I just put 3 livescopes and 3 guys beaming in 3 different directions on my boat. Cause a squiggy line on side image doesn’t do it for me.

Ha yea you have to utilize all your electronics is the way we look at it.
