Not confusing at all. We have Retail, Classic Retail(CATA) and now Classic Classic, as well as the Hardcore niche and SoD niche. Hardcore is the SameOldSameOld fanbase, and SoD is the ChangeChangeChange, and C+ fanbase.

From Blizz's point of view. If the playerbase really wanted a Classic Plus. They would of shown that by remaining on the SoD realms, playing the closet thing to Classic+, until Blizz finally took notice, and gave us our Classic Plus. Like they rewarded Kargoz's HC movement with HC realms of their own.

Those numbers for SoD could represent the Classic Plus niche if they remain stable after Classic Classic drops. Those of us who don't need an excuse to jump in SoD and blow of steam with a couple hours gaming. Every locked realm in SoD drops down to the hardcore who remain there keeping busy until C+ drops. And now the entire game version of SoD is descending to that level. The Classic Plus niche of wow. Anything else in Classic, is a step back. And I don't do borrowed power since the end of WoD. I'm waiting to see what SoD's "fun" afterlife looks like by dev standards. I'm not convinced Blizz's def of fun, and my definition, are a match.

P3 numbers were depressed by the unexpected phase length drought in the middle of a pre-planned season. When Classic Classic drops we could see another event like our drought phase. But if lucky the numbers will rebound to our current numbers again. If Classic Plus dropped tomorrow. Once the honeymoon's over and content droughts set in. Our numbers here on SoD would be the one's continuing to game daily during any future C+'s ebbs and floods. We are the hardcore for changechangechange to balance nochanges. And we are being ignored by Blizz.

@@Kaghoegaming They have raided on Chaos Bolt every phase since their lock in P2. Only alliance to make it on a locked realm though. We came close on The Lash. Three other realm are still raiding hordeside though. Only takes a couple guilds to remain on a locked realm to turn it into a realm guild.

I feel like after the couple months of hype created by content creators, the classic servers will see a big drop off. The content creators bring in new people especially into fresh servers but i don't know how much longevity the 6th (2019, SoM, fresh realms in Wotlk, HC servers, SoD) fresh server relaunch will have. Fresh enthusiasts will be happy but i cant see this being a commercial success for blizz, warranting more funding for the classic team

OnlyFangs come to Classic with their viewcounts already baked in, and things will seem exciting and lively on the new realms with Blizz's "OnlyFang" collaboration occuring. Similar to Blizz's collab with Kargoz and the HC movement. Once that is done, and Blizz has made their coin off the event. Those realms will wither. Are they new realms of the same old. Or are they just seen by Blizz as temporary realms hosting the OnlyFangs pay per view collaboration?

No Idea why these people thing SoD players are going back to a game where 1 class is viable and 1 race on each faction is the immediate go to. All these players are going to be in for an awakening when Classic Era is the one that takes the hit and every other version just remains the same.

atm the only evolution of SoD, is Retail. Any other choice is devolving. Every xpac in retail is like a new season to discover new stuff. Classic is the same folks doing the exact same meta over and over with few deviations to the pattern of Classic. Now we get to watch everyone doing the same old thing like hamsters running the wheel in their cage? Only thing worse then doing the same thing for second, third and more times.... is watching someone else do it. Only reason folks stream their classic is for view counts. Which begs the question. Are there going to be SoD level view counts doing a re-repeat of old classic.

@@AmongRevenants Ya I get what you are saying but there is no need to evolve SoD because SoD itself is Classic + Beta which is the evolution of Classic. Instead of going towards TBC its just remaining in Classic content but with new and never before seen content. The additional spells and specs that are now viable just make the game completely brand new. Warriors aren't king anymore and if you are good with your class you can compete. Making every class viable in itself makes the game essentially brand new. These re-released of fresh servers never are successful before such a small player base really enjoys it. However, since they are banning GDKPs, this may allow for the opportunity for players to have a fair playing field and join a legitimate guild that allows them to acquire gear the normal way rather than slave themselves to gold farming just to get 1 item.

@@andrew2616 Even a teaser... say SoD2:TBC and making SoD progressive to replace CATA/MoP/WoD in the current classic cycle. Would of been better than just Classic Classic all over again. With a progressive melee hunter I would of done all the xpacs to follow. Even TBC and CATA. It's obvious gamers and creatives don't call the shots at Blizz.

A progressive sod with a new timeline would be a fun idea, where they ultimately end up merging with our current timeline with the current era some point down the line.

I think we see both games die out on Thursday. Sod especially because the content on fresh and sod is the same.

I literally do not know a single person who currently plays sod who is going to switch to fresh.

Everyone i know on sod is going to play fresh release but no one wants to main it due to the commitment

I main sod but I am excited to play the fresh. I will continue to raid with my guild but do plan on playing the other half in fresh

I'm struggling to think of a single reason to play fresh over SoD (other than a fresh economy which will only last a week or two). My prediction is that people will try era fresh for a week or two and will be right back to SoD.

@@benjaminducker Fresh on a mega server with sod's honor system is actually somewhat tempting. I will of course see sod through to the end but I am just raidlogging one character. I could consider casually and slowly leveling a fresh character so that it is ready when sod is done. Then I could just do TBC which I did not do in 2020

I don’t care what’s viable, going ret pally until the community makes me quit. My goals arnt completion though. Full tier 2 would be the only real goal.
