A difficult fight isn't a dps check Hoeg 😂. A dps check REQUIRES you to have a certain amount of damage output. Hard or even spongey doesn't equate to "dps check". Love the channel. Fun Bitcast.

Haha thank you for watching. We'll have to get clarity from Hoeg on exactly what is required in that battle.

I wasn't a big fan of Fallout 4 my first time around. Didn't touch it again until a few years ago, and when I did I added mods. There is one in particular that makes a HUGE improvement to the game and it's called Sim Settlments 2. It completely overhauls how the settlement building works, gives you a great questline that functions as a tutorial, offloads the management of each settlement onto NPCs (basically you just have to zone buildings and then NPCs will move in and build stuff on their own), and then lets your settlements interact with each other(they can trade building/crafting materials, one can send reinforcements to another when they get attacked, etc). And you, the player, get rewarded for doing all this with easier access to money and resources so you can craft top-tier gear easier. It is a super satisfying and addictive gameplay loop grafted into Fallout 4 without taking away all the other stuff the game already got right. Think Sim City meets Fallout and you're on the right track. In fact looking at it again, I only got to play chapter one of Sim Settlements before (which was like 10-15 hours by itself), and chapters 2 and 3 (the final chapter) have come out since, so it might be worth it for me to install Fallout 4 and go through it again. I would not play the base game again, but I can wholeheartedly recommend spending an afternoon getting mods sorted out to go through this one.

Maybe this is unfair, because I'm shot gunning through old episodes to catch up, but Hoeg seems to have a bad habit of interjecting when Ains throws a question to Dan. Specifically in this episode at 50:00 when talking about Fallout 76, and it takes 9 minutes to get back to Dan who was getting the first-time experience in 76, which is what the section was about. Obviously, this is a weekly podcast and it's a small thing, I love Hoeg's impassioned takes and explanations and he probably means nothing by it, but it diminishes Dan's role in the podcast/conversation. Hoeg and Travis are decidedly strong personalities on the podcast, but I think this is just a small oversight I've heard a couple of times now that does a disservice to the conversation.
