Its funny, how sometimes taking a few steps back is actually a very good idea. Compared to its predecessor with the twin charged 1,4 liter engine, this car uses a much more simple and old fashioned way to power: Displacement. And also the fancy dual clutch gear box is gone for a simple and old fashioned 6 speed manual. These two changes make the car cheaper than the old model and at the same time also better. Its really a well executed example of the "keep it simple" principle.

Thomas, another great job, as always. Just a remark though, in my SEAT Leon, when you tip the rear seats forward, you are supposed to 1. remove the headrests in the backrests 2. raise the lower cushions of the rear seats and pull them forwards as far as possible to a vertical position 3. fold down the backrests by pulling their respective release levers at the same time In almost every press review, I see journalists omit the (1) & (2) steps, resulting in the backrests not being able to lower fully and properly.

I just bought one! Mine has been mapped and with a new downpipe it’s now around 240hp and for car of this size, like this guy says, so many big cars get embarrassed!

Ive watched this video so many times now. This video made me decide to buy the car. I wasnt sure before I saw this video. Have had my cupra for almost 2 years now. Chiptuned and has 250 hp now. What a little rocket :O I smile everytime I drive it. Super landscapes in Germany - and super video 10/10

Thomas, I very like your reviews. I owned the Ibiza back in 2010 and I have to say it was the easyest car I have ever driven. Very small but still very agresive. I like this one but it is not very rational choice. My opinio is that there are better cars out there, specially for this price range. Now, I would like to see some Fiat products like 500x or the new Tipo hatchback. Specially the new Tipo because it promices to be maybe one of the best selling cars in the class considering the facts that Fiat dramatically incresed level of internal quality and the price will be significantly under its rivals. Thank you for your attention.

I'm going to buy a Tesla Model 3 and buy an app that gives me the sounds of a 275 GTB4 Ferrari v12. Take that Seat! Nice review Thomas. I love the design of these Seat cars. Too bad they don't come to Canada. I still think every manufacturer should call you in to review their cars before they go into production. Your reviews are incredibly meticulous! Awesome!

I would love a crack at one of these in my Ibiza FR 2.0tdi. It has a remap and dpf delete to make 197bhp but more importantly 480nm of torque! Wont get it off the line as too much torque but would be close after that :)

Wow, what a n excellent review - and also good sounds. I drive this Cupra since January 2016 but there is "no" sound like your test. Better I can say there is nothing sound. Perhaps since January 2016 is there an Software update including a better sound? That's the only negative I can say, all other is very fine. My Bordcomputer is without a Laptimer. Thomas, it's a little bit hypocritical, when you say, that the Ibiza is quicker when accelerating in front of someone before traffic lights and later giving "the moral talk" that the bullying is a problem and people who do that have rather something small :) Other than that, I really enjoy your reviews, because you pay attention even on details that nobody would address.

+C PoWeR todays winter tyres work very well also when its hotter. This car still had winter tyres because it wont last another summer season in the press fleet

Why does it have winter tyres still on the car? That would have involved the driving experience for sure. Don't like the exterior. It is getting to old and it doesn't look like a proper hot hatch. To high on it wheels and to little lines/sideskirts/etc. I do think that the driving is really good.

golf is 1200-1400kg, octavia is a bit heavier. Remeber that the engine is the heaviest component of a car, so the bigger engine u have, the heavier it gets. Golf GTI id around 1.4tons and this ibiza is a fairly lighy performance vehicle :)

the preface lift model 2010-2014 was much better looking inside and outside. cupra logos everywhere modern interior. better hood lines. beside the day LEDs nothing is better in this one.
