I’ve been sewing for probably 65 -70 years and have two Janome Sewing machines. Love them. I want to teach a Granddaughter to sew for her little girl.

Love your vlogs. Such stylish makes and passion for sewing. I had to laugh when you showed New Look pattern 6089 as a “vintage” pattern as I had that pattern when it was brand new in the late eighties 😆. It was the first jacket I ever sewed and I loved it! I hope to see your modern take on the pattern at some point.

We used to use the fabric covered belts and buckles back in the 50’s. I think they were neat. Don’t forget to get different colored eyelets and pliers to attach eyelets.

Have used fabric covered belt buckles for years. Do not forget to get the “belting” (offered in various widths) and grommets that you can punch into the belt for eyelets.

Love your fabric haul videos! I found them this morning when looking up where to fabric shop in San Francisco for an upcoming trip! I'm pretty new to sewing in the Seattle area and have been toying with the idea of going down to Portland for some fabric shopping since they have more fabric stores! If you make it back to the Pacific Northwest sometime and have the opportunity, I'd love to see a Portland haul video! Anywho, thanks for all the great videos! I'm excited to work my way through your other ones!

Karen Milfeld I’m so glad this is helpful to you! This is why I do the hauls (that and the fabric addiction) I can never find enough information when travelling so decided to make them myself!

Love your fabric/haberdashery haul in Seattle! If you ever come to Portland, Oregon I'd love to give you fabric store suggestions, and meet up with you too! We have a few wonderful fabric shops around town :)

Hi Stephanie, I got the impression that Portland has a very strong sewist community and plenty of higher quality fabric shops. I've also seen more sewing classes associated with this area. Is this your experience?

It's too bad a sewing machine isn't considered a personal comfort item by the airlines.

I have quite a few of "belt" making kits from the 60's, in all sizes and shapes and I pick them up from time to time when I find them. You are looking in the wrong places! Gotta try the Goodwill stores, second hand stores, garage sales at give away prices! I also have a huge stash of the 80's Vogue patterns that I will never use--want them? They are yours, need your address and I'll get them to you- in the smaller sizes 6-8-10-12. I live in Calif near San Francisco.

Omg yes, thank you for the offer. I would love them. The 80s vogue patterns are the best. I think the best way to arrange would be through Instagram. Can you DM me?

Definitely have used the self belts and they are awesome. Just remember to interface the belt with great sturdiest thing you can find so the belt doesn’t shmoosh down and you only have a nice buckle And a wrinkled mess.

Seattle has lost all our good fabric stores. Those of us who still sew are forced to go online or travel, which is why I found your and other UK blogs. I'm afraid our techies don't know how to create with their hands, maybe a 3-d printer?
