We had a blast in Seattle! We originally planned to do a normal first impressions video, but there were too many foods to try, so it kind of turned into a giant food tour, haha. We absolutely loved the city and we loved being back in the US, even if our stay was way too short. Next week we'll have a video from Pike Place. Don't miss it! One of the great thing's about Dicks is that they offer some of the highest wages in fast food (starting at $21-26 an hour), have an active college scholarship program for workers, childcare assistance and benefits for all employees. It used to be enough to pay your way through university completely, but it's a bit less now. And I love the fries!

Seattle has amazing food culture - Latin America has reached us up the coast (not only Mexican, you can find El Salvadoran, Venezuelan, Brazilian…) and tons of Asian food from across the pacific. I’d say you were very light on Asian influences here - sushi, pho, ramen and banh mi are almost as quintessentially Seattle as salmon and Dick’s. Gyros are big here too, and there’s a surprising amount of African food, especially Ethiopian.

Great video! I'm glad you got to visit an Ivars while you were in Seattle. Ivar really overcame a lot in his childhood. His mom was starved to death by serial killer Linda Hazzard when he was only 3 yrs old. His dad continued to have him treated by her at the time so he was still being starved for a few years. Thankfully, he survived, and she was caught after other wealthy victims died under her care. Knowing he overcame all of that, built Ivars, and did so much for his community is inspiring!

Teriyaki is more of a lunch / dinner time food. The Seattle dog is the true late night food. Any busy neighborhood in Seattle has a dog cart in it. Also a Seattle dog is traditionally is just cream cheese, green onions, and caramelized onions. The new trend is to add pickled jalapeños. The regular chowder from Ivars is the way to go.

Dicks deluxe with a strawberry shake is my go to! I'm out of state now but do miss me the occasional greasy bag of Dicks 😆 Rainier is pronounced Ray-neer, and it is the water of my people. Pairs well with a Seattle dog, for mine I usually top the essential cream cheese + grilled onions with some sauerkraut, grainy mustard, and jalapenos. Also for teriyaki, the classic spots will serve you with a bed of rice, chicken, and a basic iceberg (sometimes shredded cabbage) salad with a mayo-sesame based dressing. When I lived downtown, my favorite spot for icecream was actually Gelatiamo, but DeLaurenti in Pike Place Market would sell pints in their little freezer by the sandwich counter (parma sandwich is my favorite). On Cap Hill my favorite spot for momos is the Annapurna Cafe, if you ever find yourselves back in town.

@wherearewe-ytАй бұрын
Yeah, we never went to a Starbucks when we were there. They're literally available everywhere in the world. I don't know why people flock to them while in Seattle. Haha.
@fookum_Ай бұрын
@wherearewe-yt for sure! Burnt bitter coffee. I'm sure it was probably better back in the day before it was mass produced haha. Looks like you guys had fun tho! I've always been glad I grew up right outside the city.

@fookum_ We absolutely loved it. We just wish we had more time! Great bars, great food, and just a beautiful city in general. We were doing a pet sit in Capitol Hill, in a really nice place with a fantastic view of the city. Overall, it was an amazing time.

$4 for one donut?!!! How is this place still in business?
@wherearewe-yt2 ай бұрын
I mean...they sell $13 slices of pie, so if people are willing to buy that, a $4 donut doesn't seem so expensive anymore. 😂
@patrickbraae7622 ай бұрын
@wherearewe-yt $13 for a slice of pie is outrageous too. Guess all those Amazon employees can afford it. Hell, they pay $5000 per month rent on a 600 sq ft studio apartment so why not. That's why most of us were priced out of Seattle and had to flee to Tacoma or further. You guys missed quite a few places up here. Do you have an email I can write to? I'll get you a list.

In the blue cheese ice cream they don't actually add blue cheese. They find a homeless person and have them barefoot stomp on the ice cream. That way you get that real authentic blue cheese taste without the blue cheese. LOL! Just messin!

BTW Seattle dog does not have cabbage. Teriyaki place you guys went is not the best, you guys should've tried Toshio's Teriyaki by Rainier Ave S. For the pie, the best one is called cakes of paradise. Dicks fries does not compare to McDonald's. McDonald's fries are conventional. Dicks fries are cut and made fresh. Washington is the largest producer of apples in the United States.
@wherearewe-yt27 күн бұрын
We wanted to go to Toshi's, but it was quite far from all the other locations, so it wasn't really possible this time. When we return, we will definitely try it! What is Cakes of Paradise?? We loved Dick's! The fries were so good. Definitely far exceeded our expectations. Especially considering how quick it all came out. 🍟 🍔

I see your teriyaki didn't come with salad. The best places have salad. Also thats not a Seattle dog. a Seattle dog is a Kirkland Signature Polish sausage on a toasted Kirkland signature hoagie roll with grilled onions, cream cheese, and jalapenos to taste.
@wherearewe-ytАй бұрын
Someone mentioned that some versions come with salad, or cabbage. Maybe it's because we got the budget lunch version? 🤔 We will happily come back and eat another one. I want a late night, street side hotdog from a cart next time!
