I was There as a crazy kid and we had lights until the houses started to complain. I grew up really close to SIR and would be there even when mom and dad said NO! I miss this days of “64 Funny Cars” and the high school drags. To be 100% I’m surprised and pleased to see the track is still alive.

Night runs, when the track was Seattle International Raceway 1970's, they had quit a few night races, they had to be done and wrapped by 10PM.

Clay, 3.76 is not bad, but... the car seems stuck in the mid-3.70 range all season. Remember the very first race of the year? You ran 3.6's and kicked butt. What's going on? The car seems to keep putting cylinders out. Stay safe!

Back in the day 70z that is night runs all the time .. your event seems to be early i remember always in August...if you have the time Clay check out the Hydroplane events on lake Washington. The Blue Angels.the airshow is orientated on the clock tower

in the late 90s night qualifying was the norm then the Nabors got a noise ordinance passed the city council, after night qualifying started at 6 and usually ended before dark so much for racing under the lights now only 2 times a year can we run past 10pm

It's too bad Spokane, WA isn't an NHRA track. We used to get World Nationals races here, but I think those were IHRA days.

@ricksayko809 it was NHRA, then became an IHRA track. Big Daddy Don Garlets flipped his last race car over backwards in Spokane at an NHRA Nationals event. It was shortly after that it became an IHRA track. I grew up on that track!

@@jdshaw2751 you look pretty young and probably did not experience drag racing in the 1970’s. The track was owned by the Tice family who owned the American Hot Rod Association. The track was an AHRA track for many years. I have not kept up with the track much since the 1990s might have been Ihra for some period after that.

I don’t want the added weight also here are the last few years champions. Steve Torrence 2018 2019 2020 2021 champ open cockpit car. Brittany Force 2022 Champ closed cockpit car. Doug Kalitta 2023 Champ open cockpit car. BTW Doug started 23 in a closed cockpit swapped to open and is still running one.

SIR is not a great track. I was raised out there, back in the 70’s we lost a good friend out there. He was doing something stupid, hell we all were. Hope it’s smoother now than it was . It was never a legal track then.
