I've been looking for this documentary for years. Seb Coe was the GOAT and a true inspiration for middle distance runners. Thanks for sharing this video!

I remember watching this documentary as a kid on TV and it blew me away! I knew i was already a good runner but it got me thinking about how fast i could be. I was mainly a middle distance runner and i did well through High School setting new School records for the 800m and 1500m which i heard later were unbeaten for a number of years. Sadly i didn't get anywhere near Coe's times but the 80's holds many fond memories for me on the track, running was my whole life back then, good times 😊. In my opinion Coe had the perfect relaxed and efficient running style. That training run in the documentary where he's running in front of his dad's car on the Rivelin Valley Road in Sheffield, amazing to watch!

Can you imagine the times Coe would have run on today's tracks, with today's shows and today's methods of training like altitude camps and the likes? These are the innovations that keep world records falling every year. I would say 1:39.8 800m, 3:24.6 1500m & 4:42.5 mile. Purely speculative obviously.

Personally I do not think Coe would have been able to beat Rudisha in 2012 800m Olympic Final. Rudisha's run transcended every other 800m run ever. It was insane!

That one of the greatest runners of the 20th century is nearly forgotten in an era when sport is dominated by corporate greed, personality cults, and of course doping.

IPO wasn't illegal in those years and he was definitely on the juice,so was Paula Radcliffe.

I stand corrected, epo, thanks,Seb was an incredible and gifted runner who trained so hard, but the truth is that I believe he juiced to get that good, look at what is happening now with the Russians,it's been going on for decades. All the way back to the blood doping scandals of the Germans. They would train at high altitudes and store their blood in refrigerators, and inject themselves with it right before competition, even some of the Americans were doing that, after they heard how effective it was.Lance was just the tip of the Iceberg.

I don't want to seem rude, but prove it, otherwise keep sweeping statements like that to yourself.

I can't prove it, obviously,it's only conjecture, but if you had done your homework and did some reading you would of discovered that the German swimmers and other German athletes were using it routinely, and it was being given by their trainers, who were getting it from German doctors,so EPO was rampant in sports even before Seb and Paula were setting world records, and it stands to reason that Seb and Paula, had access to the best doctors and trainers of their time, they just never got caught, Lance Armstrong was only the tip of the iceberg in today's world of sports. Now the Kenyans are being caught systematically, as the sport starts to emphasize more scrutiny on the coaches and trainers, who are being told to win at any cost,it's all about the money. You should do some research on the subject, so you can educate yourself to the realities of the modern professional athlete, and the desire, of some of them, to be the best. My statement is not a sweeping one,it's a real problem in sports and it's naive people like you who turn a blind eye, because your not informed.
