ARCHMAN

ARCHMAN

Күн бұрын

Picked up this Sebenza 25 the day they became available. When I brought the broken screw to CRKs attention they admitted fault to all of the smaller screws in all 30 Seb25s in this first batch. CRK has machined new stouter screws and hopefully my knife will be in route to me sooner than later! So far it has been away for 26 days. Any comments I can make on the knife after this vid would be totally speculation so I will hold off until I have my knife back complete with "super screws!"

Hey, I think bladehq did a factory walk around, it's here on YT. the hollow is supposed to be done like over a century ago on those BEEG honing wheels to make the grind stronger and still get a lot of life out of the blade. while the regular grind hollows out so that it's thinner even than at the edge...which means it will only get sharper with time and have a looong life i.t.o. resharpening. can't wait for your follow up to this.

If you decide to get rid of the 25, I would love to buy it. I had a 21 but had it stolen. Thanks for the video.

your reviews are like a good spanish red wine, strong and fruity, and best enjoyed at room temperature (yeah, i admit the analogy kinda breaks down there...), but i like em and it always makes me want to buy another bottle...

@Halfmoon67 I have had EXCELLENT results from S35VN! I've had a few knives in the steel and still have a Sm21. Dare I say it may be my favorite steel. Double check to make sure you are definitely raising and REMOVING the burr when sharpening. I really prefer stainless blades though. I thought I'd love Elmax but it's a PITA to sharpen... Not worth the extra edge holding IMO.

I like the old style, and I just can't see how the interface can be stronger with a small ceramic ball bearing. CRK used to (and I guess they still do) flame harden the Ti lock bar face, which greatly reduces wear in that area. It seems like a cost cutting measure. I have the Um and it is OK, but much prefer my older Insingo. After 2 yrs lockup is 40%, and it cuts well. (And yes I know ceramics are extremely hard bearing surfaces).

@TheCharientism I agree, I really don't care for it at all. It's completely different from what the sebenzas been for the last 25 years

You can see the hollow grind in the reflection. He needs to make a deep carry pocket clip now that he's moved the lanyard. How's the jimping up top with that hump ? The new knife is much cleaner looking.

great vid, let us know what you think about s35VN steel. My experience on my seb 21 is not very good with this steel. The knife is extremely good, but the steel doesn't hold a very good edge IMO... Let us know arch' !

I actually have some trouble to sharpen my seb on my spyderco sharpmaker. I can get it pretty sharp but not hair popping sharp like my military. The factory edge is convex, so i'm guessing i need some time to remove the shoulders and "reprofile" it into a 30° inclusive edge with a 40° micro bevel (my prefered profile). I do not own a leather strop, maybe it could help. How do you sharpen yours?
