The thing I love about Steven's accent is that (even though this is paired with supernatural stuff ofc) when you have DID one of your alters can in fact have accents that you didn't grow up with. They don't sound natural because they AREN'T. It's super cool idk

Something I loved is how they put us in the perspective of Steven throughout the entire episode. Because Marc is the main host body, and the one who was resurrected by Khonshu, it puts us the viewer in Steven’s shoes as if we’re experiencing his mental troubles and questioning of reality with him. Very genius imo. And I’m sure we’ll get to see Marc’s comic origin and becoming MK (or a version of it) through flashbacks. As someone who’s been a fan of Moon Knight for years, I was incredibly happy with how this first episode was, and love that they saved the suit reveal towards the end. Honestly gets a 10/10 from me

I agree with your comment. This episode (the directing, the acting the writing) was seriously incredible. I just want to point out that Marc isn’t the host. I don’t know how it is in the comics, but in the show(at least in the first several episodes) Steven is the host. Honestly, I don’t think they fit perfectly into system roles(which is fine, not every system does or has to). However, in their MCU system(Steven, Marc, and Jake) the roles they fit into align more along the lines of: Steven-Host, Marc-Protector, Jake-Protector/Persecutor. Just because Marc was the “first” doesn’t make him the host. It’s not always that cut and dry. The purpose of DID is to keep the body alive through intense repeated childhood trauma. The purpose of a protector is to literally protect the host. To keep the host safe, most of the time by keeping them from remembering their trauma/building amnesia walls. In episode 5, Marc says to Steven something along the lines of, “that’s the whole point of you,” referring to their mother and how Steven was formed to be the one who got to live a normal life and not remember what she did. Marc remembered so that Steven didn’t have to. That’s what a host is. As for Jake, I believe that he cares about Marc and Steven. Everyone he killed during the show were people who had hurt Marc or Steven/put them in danger. He is a protector in that he protects and avenges his system, but he does so in a way that puts not only himself, but also Marc and Steven in immediate danger, i.e. persecutor. Anyways, I guess what I’m trying to say is: be careful with your use of DID terminology. If you want to learn more about the DID aspect of Moon Knight instead of my aimless rambling, I suggest watching braiDIDbunch‘s Moon Knight series.

Btw, Ammit is an Egyptian goddess that doesn't actually judge the dead. Their heart gets put on one side of the scale and the feather of truth gets put on the other. If both are completely even then you can pass but if it's not then Ammit will eat your heart which destroys your spirit. In the mythology at least so they probably switch it up. Because that golden bug doesn't belong to Ammit. It's one of the forms Amun Ra takes throughout the day. He's basically the god of the sun and the oldest of the gods. He keeps the chaos at bay (and got betrayed a lot cuz gods be egotistical lmao). So I'm not sure why that dude wants to give the bug to Ammit.

If you didn't know Moonknight has 3 different personalities, Mark Spector/ Moonknight, Steven Grant and then Mr Knight. When he passes out it's his other personality coming out.

Moon Knight is actually entirely separate from Marc. They’re both their own personalities. There’s 5 personalities in total which are Marc Spector, Steven Grant, Jake Lockley, Moon Knight, and Mr. Knight. Marc is the original, primary personality.

I've watched quite a few reactions to this and I've heard a decent amount of questions or other stuff about Steven's disorder (DID - Dissociative Identity Disorder) and if anyone's wondering about it or wants to know more, there's an amazing video on it by Anthony Padilla (kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5yae35spcanqqc link here) that explains it really well. It genuinely helped me to understand what was going on in this first episode quite a lot. Anyway, I loved this video, keep up the good work Seb :)

it is not called Split personality or multiplier Personality disorder any more it is now called Dissociative Identity Disorder or D.I.D. and it is when a person, most likely a kid goes through repeated trauma and the mind can't handle it anymore so the brain creates an alter to protect itself from harm. and that alter is know as a protector. But, the alters do have real memories and they are also real people. This was a good way of showing how involuntary alter changes are. For what I know about DiD, you can really lose days even when one of you alters decides to front. Seems Steven is a fairly new-ish alter so whatever happened to Marc to make Steven take over for so long must’ve pretty large trauma (which alters are born/created which is through Massive trauma). I appreciate the fact they (the host and alters) Haven’t made an “Evil” alter yet. Again DiD is about managing trauma not causing it. Yes, some alters (known as Protecters) can be rougher on the outside ( aka in front while the host is in the mind). But, never straight-up causing problems on purpose only to protect the host and the other alters. And Marc is the host as for Steven he is the one who is the most out aka in front so he can have some social life.

Marc has Dissociative Personality Disorder ( formally Multiple Personality Disorder ), which is why he often blanks out or has lapses in judgememt/memory. Him forgetting about his date in the beginning is probably because another alter was present ── like his alter Jack Lockley, who was probably the one that asked the woman out, not Steven. The show does a great job at showing how the dominant alter ( Steven, in this circumstance ) is consciously aware of the existence of Marc Spector, where a lot of patients with DID have the ability to communicate and listen to alters when they are not expressive. It's also important to note that calling alters 'personalities' or 'alter egos' suggests that Steven is consciously making an effort to change his behavior or the way he acts to be someone else, when in reality, these things are out of a person's control with DID. alters do not share a conscience, and they exists on different planes of existence with their own unique traits, behaviors, accents (Steven vs. Marc / english vs. american), etc.. there have been circumstances where someone with DID has the sudden ability to speak foreign languages or has an insurmountable amount of knowledge in a certain field that they would have otherwise never understood. the small details of Steven communicating with Marc or even acknowledging him in the mirror are really important parts of his struggle with DID, and how they edit the 'switch' (when one alter shifts to another). Switches are often triggered, which means what we've seen so far is Steven switches are triggered by high stress situations when he is afraid. He often switches when he is outnumbered or out of his element (fighting the jackal), reverting to an alter that is more apt for the job (Marc).

Some backstory, which I don’t think are spoiler since it’s already public: Moon knight is an agent of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. He also has multiple personalities: Marc is a mercinary that died on a mission in Egypt and brought back to life by the moon god as his “agent”. Then there’s Stephen, a child, Mr Knight whose the “moonknight” in a suit in that one poster, and then there’s Moonknight himself. Don’t know if they’re doing the same thing in the MCU though. The voice he’s hearing and the large thing with the toucan beak is Khonshu.

Now, once Steven and Marc become more co-consious they actually could influence/bleed into each other a bit so Steven might crave animals protein bc Marc is craving it at that moment and is co-con. But that's not the case in the steakhouse scene because their dissociative/amnesia barriers are still extremely high. So it just meant Steven was sad and didn't want to waste the reservation. Couldn't be me lmao I would have just gone home.

First off a warning: The community is pretty odd and keeps blurting out comic based spoilers throughout the comments apparently. Really glad I am not the only one seeing the similarities here to Project Insight. But then again it is also similar to the Silvie's case in Loki. The TVA apparently judged her from something she would do. Which obviously should lead us to the question: does Ammit judge people only for stuff they do in the current timeline? Is this maybe happening, bfore/during the events of Loki, while only the sacred timeline existed? If the timeline now keeps branching and people would commit a crime in one and not commit the crime in another, would Ammit still judge them? In an endless multiverse all souls would then commit a crime sooner or later in one timeline. So she would doom all souls.
