I too was there and I remember us playing UCONN! As a Gamecock fan, I can attest that it FELT like Connecticut and not central Alabama in January! It was like 28 degrees with a wind chill of 10! The worst part is we lost and the weather followed us back to South Carolina!

I was at that Papa John's bowl. It was cold, the stadium was falling apart, they DID run out of pizza and they screamed "Papa's in the House" over the loudspeaker for about an hour. To top it all off, we lost to UCONN. I am no longer allowed to buy bowl tickets.

@@Cegro1 I went to the Hall of Fame Bowl at Legion Field in Birmingham back in the day when we had George Rogers. It was freezing. It rained the entire time, and we lost to Mizzou. It was miserable. I will say this though...the Birmingham Bowl is NOT the worst SEC bowl. That dubious distinction belongs to the Independence Bowl. Birmingham has things to do. It has a few good restaurants. Shreveport is a cesspit. I've been there twice, and I can genuinely say that it is a pimple on the ass of America.

The Birmingham Bowl at Protective Stadium Home of the UAB BLAZERS is drastically a very much, better experience. Protective Stadium is a top tier venue. Even the new 2022 USFL spring football league is playing the entire season out of Birmingham. The World Games 2022 is in Birmingham.
