Last time I heard this piece was about 25 years ago performed by the Vienna Arban Berg Quartet in Tokyo. It was a dreamy experience. Honestly speaking, I started listening to this with not too high expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. Great performance. The number of audience vs performer's talent ratio is ridiculously low. I guess it is the destiny of chamber music. Many great performers but not too many listeners. Isn't it a pity?

Very good young musicians who relive this extraordinary score of Berg

I have earlier today in Swedish Television seen programs about Egon Schiele and Gustaf Klimt and the Secessionists, and also a program about Alban Berg. So this made me come here. And I completely understand why this fine quartet calls themselves "Secession Quartet". Alban Berg was 1926 in Vienna living in a city that was a complete melting point, New Times were coming and this music is The New Time. Almost hundred years later I wonder if we have come so much longer now? Great playing, anyway!

Yet again, "orientals" playing 'our' music better than we often do and so young and mature in understanding. I was taken to task once for using the word oriental - a lovely word - I can see n thing wrong with it. I use it when I don't know where the musicians come from, but there is a note saying Japan. For better and worse, the Japanese caught up quickly with Western culture. Thanks for bringing this wonderfully strange Berg so eloquently into my living room. I will listen to this many times.
I often lately see orientals playing western music splendidly, every note and phrase in the right place. I enjoy this music very much but will have to listen to it often to get the hang of it.

I often see irrelevant old fools still thinking it's acceptable to call people from Asia "Orientals." Who the fuck cares what you think about the music if you can't address its players respectfully?

@@ariasnribs7243 - My use of the word oriental is not disrespectgul. What's worng with being oriental? I have admired various musicians from those regions but don't always know exactly which countries they come from. Oriental is a lovely word, so fuck off.

you know what they say: "no matter how good you are at something, there will always be an asian who can do it better"

@@realnigga19 - I wouldn't go in for such generalisations, but I often see ORIENTALS playing wonderfully. But also some Eureopeans; the French Adam Laloum playing the piano. if you haven't heard him look him up immediately - the way he plays Schumann's Davidsbuendlertaenze....and he looks as beautiful as the music he plays.
